McCall or Pratt, plus Miller, Brown, and Rashada. You never know what can happen to a guy in off season. I saw Cam Newton here in his last Orange & Blue Spring game, he could not hit a barn on a ten yard crossing pattern..... He goes JUCO for a year after here and then he wins a Natty at Auburn, while looking great and making ALL the throws. Got to see how much Miller develops but also have to have the luxury of a McCall or Pratt. Just my two cents. GO GATORS!!!! P.S. There a lot of other issues that have to improve besides QB on this team. But QB is where it has to start. Always, GO GATORS!!!!
Every one single person judging Miller amazes me. This was a no win situation. Choices were turn down a bowl or possibly traumatize Miller. Thanks Kitna.
Need a transfer QB who is a current starter. We can’t afford at this point to have Miller or a new recruit to grow into being a starter at this point. And from the limited time I’ve seen Miller, including the spring game when he was considered 1B on the QB depth chart, he is serviceable but not an SEC caliber QB. If he is our starter next year we are in trouble.
Even if no “transcendent QBs” are available, Gators need someone better than Miller. Stop with why Jie Burrow comps. He’s nowhere near that level and there’s no Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase waiting on this roster. If Miller is starting at Utah, it’s going to be a tough year. Billy better have a lot better Wednesday than yesterday.
We definitely NEED a portal quarterback, like McCall, who will at least give us wins. The game in Vegas showed us that if you don't have a passing game, teams will stack the line and we go virtually scoreless. Another losing season will not help recruiting!
Speaking of "Leaving Las Vegas," I hope no player or coach tried to drink himself to death in Vegas after the game.
Yep- seat so hot unless wins 8 next year. 7-6 not gonna cut it. 8 or more. So many talk about building but while building you see progress. Next year, Anything short of 8 wins would be a major issue.
Miller may or may not be the guy. A spring game and a bowl game with 1/3 of the roster gone doesn't shown much, IMO. Maybe Rashada, Brown or a portal QB beats him out - who knows? What I do know is that UF's problems are way more than QB. We need wide receivers who can create space and catch the ball. We need quality defensive linemen. We need safeties who can cover receivers and not get out of position constantly. We need linebackers who can plug gaps and cover receivers out of the backfield. We need better play calling. We need much better special teams play. And we need much more mental discipline to cut down on all the penalties that plagued us the last part of the season. Hopefully, Coach Napier is doing some serious soul searching about how to address this mess because this is looking like a long term fix and Gator nation isn't going to give him a long time to straighten things out.
He was never behind Kitna when healthy. He had a second setback just as he was getting cleared on the thumb around SC week. Miller has a LOT to prove on the field. Zero question in that regard. But the game yesterday is not the best measure given the overall train wreck. Heck, imagine if you were judging Etienne or Montrell on that game. UF must, and will absolutely bring in a portal QB....my money is on Pratt, with McCall right there. Let those guys compete in spring, plus see how far along Reshada is.
Miller may not be the guy, but yesterday he played like a guy making his first start. Made some plays and missed some. OL didn’t help, no running game. UF was outplayed at every position.
Poor Miller's demeanor was subdued from minute one. No excitement just like that sad "pep-talk" from Napier just before going on the field. I like CBN but where is the excitement and enthusiasm?
Miller won’t be it. Yesterdays performance can not be judged with the team that was on the field. Figure Rashada and build a long term team around him. Sorry, but I hate not having a QB for 2 years and then we start over again.
Miller was not the problem. He was very rusty through no fault of his own and he had no help from the Oline or RB's. BN had run out of options thanks to the desertions of key players.
On O, lost a starting QB, OG and WR to draft that were starters. On D, lost only the ILB yesterday. Only 4 starters, should have been more competitive, but we played a QB getting his first snaps of season and a redshirt freshman playing OG for the first time this year. We have not played well since losing Shorter to injury the last few games. We gave up 40 plus with Miller playing, so don’t think his departure matters. Could not cover WRs. On to next year.
Interesting. One of the comments in a front page game story was that the passing game contributed nothing to help the running game. Yet by any measure, the passing game was as effective or marginally better than OSU's. Almost identical yardage, no ints. With one experienced receiver. I did not see the game because Granddaughter was receiving MS concurrently. Sounds like the Gators shot themselves in the foot as they have in the past. Or maybe the officials did, as against fSU. Give Miller his due; and let him compete.
