(VB) Ongoing Volleyball Thread

Anybody But Nebraska.

 

With Stucky and Hutson back along with what UF has coming in, the best recruiting class in the nation and with UF's newly acquired transfer, I have UF as the best team in the nation in 2024. It'll take chemistry and hard work to get there, but it is doable.

 

Agree. Hoping the schedule has Texas in the O’Dome. Place will be on fire!

We should be stout, but we won’t have seasoned upper classmen either…but we’ll be exciting to watch for sure.

 

I took my girls up to Austin in 1996 where we had the “Jen’s” squad and beat UT 3-2 in an epic battle. That match paved the girls’ VB interest for life

 

Unless one of the newcomers turns out to be a T'ara Ceasar, we will have good chemistry. This year's team had amazing chemistry.
The only thing that bothers me is our serving. Texas blew me away with theirs. Boos needs to watch that film over and over. And, BTW we will be playing them next season.

It's a great spectator sport. Lots of action and tremendous athleticism.

 

How is the setter rated?

 

Very capable but I doubt Mary runs a 6-2 offense. Hopefully she gets good spot duty allowing Alexis to get some rest. A top S isn’t a player who’ll want to sit for years. Will be interesting. Top squads cannot go a season with just one S….thats a risk coaches don’t want to take. Jmo

 

UF's 24 class is head and shoulders better than anyone else, even better than UNL's 23 class.

 

I so badly want the great Mary Wise to win a national title before she retires. She & Mike Holloway, to me, are the 2 best UF coaches in the history of the university.

 

Agree, but I might add Tim Walton to the list.

 

CMW has the pieces now to win multiple national championships before she retires. Chemistry, hard work, and few serious injuries will get it done.

The Texas HC says he wants to help the SEC get better. Seems to me this was in the process before conference realignment as evidenced by Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas A&M who has a top-notch coach. I'd say Georgia too, but I can't make myself include the poodles yet. The SEC was no longer a Florida and Kentucky league. All boats have been lifting as evidenced by Arkansas knocking off Kentucky in the NCAAs and UTn taking UTx to a 5th set where the vols had a match point before losing. I don't concede the SEC to Texas in 2024.

I don't know how many know it, but UF has historically done very well against UTx.
