(VB) Ongoing Volleyball Thread

Totally abandoned the MBs…very tough loss after up 8-4

 

Not surprising. Just was never the same team after Stuckey went down. Muff was too limited. And you just can't overcome all the serving errors.

 

Nebraska will pummel Ga Tech, just like they would have the Gators. Beeson will have a chance at a ring.

 

Not the ending I hoped for but enjoyed the season. Go gators and congratulations on a great career for the seniors. They’ll be back!!

 

Would be nice to have a season without injuries to major players just to see what would happen.

 

I feel the same after this season as I do after every season: proud of the players.

 

Broke the 20 win season streak along with several teams winning in Gainesville for the first time. Can’t blame all of this on injuries especially with 4 seniors in the starting lineup. I’ll say it…. Time for a change in leadership.

And a receive error on Ellie on a ball that was definitely out. We beat ourselves.

 

Last post on vb for awhile…the last 5 pts are different than the previous points. The first bunch is a feeling out process, akin to boxers jabbing and figuring out the opponent. The last five is a game within a game. Now you have a plan and you go to win. That means you execute your offense that gives you the best chance to win, you don’t miss serves, hitters finish plays , and you come up big at the net. The coaches have to be on the same page as the players. Bad ball offense drills during practice helps in that if you get into an out of system offense, you have a plan. We’re talking top 20 vb. The team has to be engaged in a similar mindset, especially post season. We weren’t. I feel bad for someone

 

These ladies were 8 & 0 after eight matches, ranked in the top four in the country and had beaten 3 ranked teams until Alexis and company went down. There isn't a team in any sport that can loose half their starting lineup and do any better. Under the circumstances, I think they had a successful season and the way they competed makes me proud to be a Gator.

 

Congratulations on a great season! Now get healthy an win it all next year.

 

Congratulations to our Gators who fought through insurmountable difficulties.

Right now, I'm giddy looking forward to the promise of 2024.

If every UF sport were as successful as women's volleyball, I would be a very happy Gator. And the national championship will come, quite possibly next year. We just need an ACL, MCL, and a shoulder to fully heal.

 

So, are we the best program not to win an NCAA title?
