Nebraska beat Stanford 3 -1. Gators beat Stanford 3 - 0. That is reason enough to be rated in front of the turncoat Merritt and her band of Cornhuskers.

ESPN to televise #21 Kentucky at #2 Louisville tonight at 8 PM ET. The wildcats are sub .500 at 2-4 after losing 3-2 to Purdue last Saturday. They'll likely be 2-5 after tonight. Louisville (8-0) has a national championship caliber team.

    EDIT:

Louisville swept Kentucky 3-0. I'm not quite sure what UK is missing that they have had in recent years, but it is missing right now. In the first set, Louisville scored 10 straight points to overcome a 4-point deficit. This hasn't happened to UK in recent years. I don't know if Louisville was that good or if Kentucky was that bad.

Strangely enough, UK's best two players, Rutherford and Teeler, were very seldom on the court together. That may be the problem, but I don't know beyond it is strange to me not to play your best two players together. For all I know, UK could just be sandbagging in pre-SEC season and will come on big when SEC play begins next week. Time will tell.

For now, the wildcats go from the frying pan into the fire. UK next plays at Nebraska on Sunday.

Watched the second half of the match between Marquette and Wisconsin. Marquette gave the badgers fits for 3 games finally losing 3-1. In the 3rd game tied at 1-1, Marquette held a 24-21 lead before Wisconsin broke through to win the final 5 points and the game at 26-24. Up 2-1, it was easy breezy after that for the badgers. In the 4 games, Wisconsin had 18 service errors while Marquette only had 2.

We'll see how it goes on Sunday with Wisconsin. If the Gators bring their A game, UF has a good chance to pull out a win.

Another interesting Sunday matchup is Stanford at Louisville. Come Monday, there will be a whole lot of shaking up in the AVCA poll rankings.

Will this be a record home game attendance for Florida Volleyball?

Is a sell out for volleyball only Level 1 and Level 2 or does it include Level 3?

And in my never ending rant about the Gainesville Sun sports page we still have not had a single volleyball article in the print edition all season. I thought that beating FSU might at least get a mention as beating them in anything should get some kind of mention.

But we do get at least three football articles everyday.

I just saw the score of Louisville vs Penn State from Sunday. Louisville demolished them 25-17, 25-19, 25-16. Cards look very formidable.

Louisville is so good that I wouldn't be surprised to see UF beat Wisky and only move up to #2. My top 4 based on the teams I've seen play so far:

    1. Florida
    2. Louisville
    3. Nebraska
    4. Wisconsin

The badgers may prove me wrong on Sunday, but I think UF wins again. It wouldn't be a shocker as UF has a pretty good record against Wisky.

Nebraska has looked very impressive in the 2 matches I've seen them play (@Kansas St and @Stanford), but their schedule has not been nearly as tough as the other top 5 teams. Only 2 ranked opponents- #16 Creighton 3-1 (home) and at #5 Stanford.

#3 Florida Welcomes #1 Wisconsin to Gainesville:

Gators Welcome No. 1 Badgers to Gainesville - Florida Gators

The Gators are 6-1 all-time against the Badgers. Make it 7-1 after UF's Sunday win.

The article says there are tickets available. You locals get those tickets! Don't let a flood of Wisconsin red be the cause of UF setting a new attendance record.

That's really a dereliction of duty. How can the only newspaper in a college town the size of Gainesville NOT cover a successful UF program???

You have to pay to read the article plus they used a picture of the 23 team. How lazy do you have to be to work there?

All I want to know at this point is if Kira Hutson's shoulder is so injured that she is done for the season and what the staff is going to do to get her right? She shows no signs of being ready to play volleyball. That's a lot of talent/depth sitting on the bench with no explanation other than it is a shoulder injury. Maybe the Gainesville Sun can wake up one of their top-notch reporters long enough to ask a simple question.
