Those are good questions however it's apparently the responsibility of the setter for everyone to do their job.

How about this...with Thomas looking pretty good and Auguste definitely capable, we try Rothe at OH...she did really well at RS when Kennedy was out and her size would be challenging over there

Didn’t watch the match but other than dismal hitting from the left side, it seemed like a clean performance. I’ll say again, the attackers need to finish whatever the setter gives. Whatever imperfections from the setter, hitters need to finish and their attacking needs to be effective and smart choices….like hitting off the blocks both at the top and off the OPP’s hands(thumbs down swing). These hitters have had thousands of swings before…this isn’t petroleum engineering. Jmo

I was at the match last night. I am not a volleyball expert by any stretch of the imagination and I was stunned by our play in the first set..it was incredibly sloppy and out of character. CMW was very animated toward the team and the judges....not at all happy. Sets2,3 and 4 were 180 degree turn around. I hate to see a player of Stucky`s ability and dedication not playing to her past expectations because of an injury....but she is not performing at her freshman level. Parks comes in and we win three straight sets. The Arkansas fans sitting near us were in disbelief that we turned the tables on the them. Stucky`s parents were at the match and I know it is painful for them. But..congratulations to CMW and the entire team for a HARD fought win.. made it worth the 4 hr. drive .

So Stucky was responsible for the horrible play in the first set? She barely touched the ball because they were spraying it all over the court. 9 over passes! 2 net violations! Zero blocks! I believe they were aced twice and served none of their own. Tgat was just tge first set! How is Stucky supposed to perform to her expected level when that's the effort her team gives her? Parks would have lost that first set as well. This is either a really slow starting team or they simply won't play for Stucky because it makes zero sense to me how serving, passing and defense improve by changing the setter.

I have a serious question for anyone here with inside knowledge or familiarity with the program. We have had injuries before but nothing like what we have now. It's usually just 1 or 2 players, not an entire lineup worth of players. Out strength and conditioning coach was just hired in March and so far this is not a good result. I actually had no clue the person I see at games was in charge. Their presence doesn't seem professional, the players interactions are non existent and until today I thought this person was a student intern based on side line behaviors. Does anyone know what happened to the prior coach, what were the issues, if any, that led to the job vacancy and how do you feel about the current hire?
I randomly looked up 3 coaches from different programs. I see credentials like master strength and conditioning, degrees in actual physical education and physiology with experience in multiple sports programs at college and Olympic levels. I look up our program and see nothing. Our athletic trainers look like students. Had to go to Linked In to find a resume and was shocked she started with a degree in graphic communication! Was happy to see a doctorate degree however it appears to be more related to mentoring and psychological communication than actual physical training of the body.
Are we not taking the physical training and exercise seriously? These girls do warm ups that 10 year olds do and with about the same dedication to doing them correctly.
This could all just be one very bad coincidence but I am not seeing lots of targeted experience and training for the specific sport movements nor am I getting the sense any of the players take the staff seriously. Hoping I am being overly dramatic but this hire has a horrible track record after just 8 months and I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Parks is pretty good with nice height. Hope she has freedom to run the offense with a bit more tempo. Jmo

From 2003 through the 2023 season, Matt DeLancey was the volleyball, cross country, track & field, swimming & diving. team's Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and Associate Driector of Strength & Conditioning for the Athletics Dept.
    https://floridagators.com/news/2024/7/24/olympics-an-olympian-passion-for-his-work-july-24-2024.aspx

It shows Jessi Smith as now the volleyball's teams S & C Coordintor and I can't find out where DeLancey is now, but he's not listed as one of the volleyball coaches.

Geez sounds like he was over worked...don't blame him for leaving however it appears we went to less experience now and maybe only 1 coach doing double time on sports teams

DeLancey is still listed on UF's S&C Staff with volleyball as one of his areas of responsibility: Strength and Conditioning Staff

You are correct Alexis Stucky was not the problem in that first set. Serve/receive play was atrocious, putting the play into out of system immediately. There were 7 over passes not allowing Stucky to set. We had only 6 kills, 7 errors and a hitting % -0.036 on 29 attempts. Also there were three net violations and ARK had two serve aces. We had three service errors, were blocked three times and we missed a number of joust. everything that could go wrong in our play…did. It was a team effort. But that happens in sports.

How many injuries have we had this year?
Kmarts turned ankle, which is not S&C-related.
Gabbi's knee, I do not know.
All the other injuries were last year under the previous staff.
I am not blaming either S&C coach.

That's UTex's second consecutive loss, at atm and Mizzou at home. The shorthorns are not a very good team. ;)

Mizzou is very good. Their blockers worked well together, and, unlike UF, their servers had no problem getting the ball in play. I'm really surprised they are not ranked. They will be when the next ranking drops.

Missou, UTex, and UK are tied for 1st at 7-2 and UF is tied with aTm for 4th at 6-3. Lots of matches to play so anything can happen.

This is the deepest the SEC has ever been in volleyball, IMO. Missouri is on a roll for sure. 7 staright wins after back to back losses to Texas A&M & Kentucky. Earlier losses to Creighton, Louisville & South Dakota. 16-5, 7-2 should get them in the Top 25 when the next rankings come out. Gators go to Missouri Nov. 15.

If you want to be a good blocker, generally speaking, you will outwork everyone along the net in/out of the transition game. The MB’s will be beasts if they want to control the net with what responsibility they have. But, no mistake about it, you’ll have to outwork the opposition with effort and good technique. Taught the position for years and Jmo.

As was said before, this sport is not complicated but to be good it places fundamental demands on each player to be met. And, there are many good VB coaches out there….

Gators come from 18-21 down, mainly behind the serve of Taylor Parks, to win the opening set vs. Ole Miss 25-22.
