Don Garlits lived in Seffner during his racing years and also had his shop there. Do not know if he still lives there or not.

Weather forecast still doesn't look good for Palm Springs, CA. A couple of teams scheduled to play have already dropped out and Florida's schedule has been modified. Now we're supposed to play UCLA tonight at 10:30 EST, UC Riverside Friday at 4 pm EST, Oregon Saturday at 1 pm EST and Cal St. Fullerton at 3:30 EST. I'll be surprised if they get all these games in and if they do probably won't play at the set times.

The team had a flight delay on the way out. According to an IG post, it was in Tampa. Did they fly commercial?

    The rest of the verse
Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
    It never rains in California
But girl, don't they warn ya?
    It pours, man, it pours

Looking better now, not great, but better. Game before ours is in the top of the seventh -- although tied so might run long. The fans look pretty miserable and cold.

Wish we had gotten rained out. They got blasted 10-0, no hitter for their pitcher. We were awful. Skylar Wallace didn't make the trip out West due to illness, Goddard out as well and he started Trlicek and played 5 infielders and 2 outfielders and got burned several times on routine fly balls that fell in. Gigante and Bender got pounded in relief.

Knew we didn’t stand a chance once I saw Trlicek in the circle and Wallace was out. Multiple times, in the last at least 2 seasons, Walton has thrown in the towel early in games. He will bring in a Pittman, Mesiemore , or Bender in a tough situation or when we are behind and in my opinion it’s a clear signal to the team that he is not trying to win the game anymore at that point.

I don't fault CTW for not bringing Hightower in to pitch in relief, if that is what you were suggesting. Or, for not starting her, for that matter. We need to come out of this western trip with some victories and throwing EH in when we were already down (and realistically probably were not going to win) may limit our ability to win some of the other games in the tourney. It's all speculation how things may or may have turned out but, I would have done the same thing as CTW.

This whole trip has been a cluster. Travel problems terrible weather and no Skylar. I doubt if they even want to be there. Bring them home and they will be fine.

I will trust the judgement of CTW. I hope this forum doesn't take the same route as Swamp Gas and NBN where some posters think they know more than the coach.

Yep, if you want to test out a five-player infield because Trlicek induces ground balls, now's the time to do it. And Trlicek has shown much improvement over last year. CTW toyed a little bit earlier this year with the shift, but why not see whether it works against the best where you will learn the most, as opposed to trying it against Illinois State or some puff team. Yeah, it didn't work out last night. Lesson learned. But before everyone goes all "sky is falling," a loss to UCLA is basically a RPI non-factor since they are so good.

What I am looking for out of this team is to forget last night and not let it impact their confidence. One of CTW's strengths is building a resilient team. Working through last night's embarrassing loss and having major players injured is an early test. We never saw Gigante after she got nailed on the hand -- hopefully that wasn't her pitching hand and she's OK.
