(SB) Ongoing UF Softball Commentary

The biggest loser of all UF’s athletic programs is Women’s Basketball with a net loss of $4,569,633.

 

So for my two sports -- softball and volleyball -- UF is losing a combined $5 million dollars a year so that I can be entertained. Gee, maybe I should send a "thank you" card to Scott Strickland.

 

Or to the football and basketball programs.

I don't think you need to send anyone a thank you card, but people should be more willing to recognize this before they start screaming and stomping their feet about every demand they have for more money or acting like the softball program is not well taken care of.

Every report I’ve seen has it in this range. 90 seems pretty well informed about the program and would not post it if he didn’t believe the numbers were accurate.

 

So much for this offense coming out of it's hitting slump with Rothrock's return,

 

4 hits and only advanced 1 runner...the hitting really needs a kick in the butt. Not sure what needs to change but they don't seem to swing at any off speed and don't take advantage facing pitchers that throw early strikes.

 

I don't know what's happened since we started SEC play but IMO I think there's been no real enthusiasm in the dugout. I sense some unhappiness and I think it's Tim is not using the players. There is to many top quality players on this team to be in a slump like this. No pinch hitters tonight.

 

Unfortunately thus far when these girls get behind they haven't played particularly well. Five of their six losses have been by 4 or more runs.

 

On a positive note, Georgia 2, Mercer 5!

 

It appears the reports of the best hitting team in history may be a bit suspect. Sure many hits but no timely hits. 5 stranded runners in the first 2 innings. No runs scored against UCF and now FSU. I hope for better results this weekend against Arkansas but Courtney Diefel has had great success against CTW the past few years.

 

When are finals over? Always heat up after that although I’d prefer they don’t wait until then lol.

 

Georgia must have major problems. Mercer is currently last in the Southern Conference.

 

And UCF is tied for 8th out of 10 in the Big 10 conference. On any day, any team can win with timely hitting.
