I don't care about it. We swept them and they're 0-12 in the SEC. We now focus on FSU, then Arkansas.
I can't stand Tennessee in any sport and Karen WeAkley makes me sick. However, when Patty GassBag loses, it's always nice.
LSU OU and Texas all had conference losses this weekend. Good news. And OU is not scary. That’s been their biggest advantage imo. Teams were mentally scared of them and played horrible. We weren’t in the WCWS last year and look what happened. Take that intimidation factor away and they’re just another good team.
I am going against the angst and will whole-heartedly applaud the Auburn catcher. She has the yips about throwing back to the pitcher. There is no way in God's green earth that's the situation she wants to be placed in. It is not intentional. There is no way for a multitude of reasons why it is advantageous to Auburn which I could describe but won't for wasted energy regarding the prevailing viewpoint. Before this weekend and watching her play three games, I wondered why the Auburn staff allowed it to continue. Other than not wanting to destroy the kid over a mental condition she can't control and is finding a way to deal with in public that just might give anyone else without her guts to give up on. I now know why. The kid is a very good defensive catcher. She has apparently thrown out four so far this year at second in less than full-time minutes. That's pretty good. She threw out Reagan today after she swung at a bad pitch in the dirt for a third strike that bounced far away from the plate and the kid threw a bullet to first to nail her. Given Auburn's horrible control all series, this kid expertly blocked more balls in the dirt than I can count. Outstanding defense. I applaud this kid for having the guts and determination to go out there and overcome what has to be for her to be a very embarrassing condition and excelling in all other aspects of her game.
We lost to UCF midweek and have FSU this midweek. I don't care too much about rankings as this point as long as we end up with a Top 8 seed at the end of the year.
It has become a purposefully stall mechanism for this Auburn team. There's a pitch clock for a reason! Along with her screaming and yelling, acting like a child is embarrassing honestly. Is she a good catcher, she's adequate to good. The game became a joke once a pitch was taken for a strike or ball. Oddly, on foul balls she had no problem throwing the dead ball to her pitcher. That tells me this is a stall technique. It certainly did have a few of our hitters looking frustrated at times. She talks to the pitcher every pitch and simulates there delivery a lot as she walks and talks to them. Should be considered a mound visit imho Go Gators!
Korbe looks like she is coming out of the slump after today. What you have to appreciate is her defense is still superb no matter her at bats. Sign of a very mentally strong person. Hopefully her a Regan can continue to mash the ball. Allowing TW to move Korbe back up in the order. Keegan looked great, Wednesday I'm thinking she'll get the ball. Go Gators!
I was thinking the same on her defense. As the weekend went on, I realized how well she blocked the low pitches and kept the ball in front of her. She did an excellent job. Nonetheless, her antics of walking the ball back to the pitcher irritated me as an opposing fan.
Here is some useless information for my fellow posters. It means nothing but the Gators have the exact same record as last year at 33 - 5
I completely agree with you on this one. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I genuinely feel bad for her. I'm a social worker and deal with mental health on a consistent basis, and my partner is a neuro NP, so watching her tics/rituals (I'm not sure what the right words are when it comes to the yips) progress and intensify as the pressure of the game built led to some pretty fascinating conversations between us in the stands this weekend. I will admit that it was frustrating at times, but I fully believe that it's far, far more frustrating for her. After Sunday's game, a couple of hard-core Auburn fans got our attention in Toomer's Corner, and they were so complimentary of our team this year. The conversation turned to their catcher, and I told them how impressed I was with her when it came to all the balls she kept in front of her. They're season ticket holders and pretty immersed in the team dynamics as a whole, and they talked about when her yips started presenting and how she had to take a good bit of time off last year because she couldn't deal with how it impacted her/how it impacted fans/etc. They did say that throughout their whole series with Texas A&M at home last week, the Aggies fans were horrible to her. They told me that even though our series had some heated moments, the only time they heard Florida fans be loudly unkind about it was very briefly and right after the heated moment at home with Cahalan. (The wife quickly told her husband that we had a right to be upset because the catcher blocked the plate on a force out...lol). Long story short... I know lots of people have lots of opinions about it, but I am pretty proud of how those who were able to be there in person responded to her and represented Gator Softball. We clearly wanted our girls to win, and we got intense when the games got intense, but... we weren't assholes.
