No. It is not that simple. You have to have the means to broadcast the game which gets back to the issue of the facility, or that's what I was told. Doesn't matter if it is on SEC, ESPN or SEC+, the means to broadcast are the same.
Fantastic. She is one of my alltime favorite players and she was pretty muched loved by all the fans.
I LOVE this for her. She has an excellent balance of intensity and positive energy, and she gets to use what she learned from being coached by one of the best there is.
Nice edit. Your entitlement still shining bright. These coaches and players deserve it! No matter how much money they already lose, they deserve more.
There’s a lot of ways to measure success. How do you think the softball program would have fared if forced to stand on its own? Losing millions upon millions year in and year out is not successful in the business sense. If the program wasn’t heavily subsidized, it would not be where it is today. Instead of acknowledging that, and being appreciative of what softball has been given to lift it to it’s current status, you demand more and say others haven’t done enough. Softball and it’s fans are more than capable of doing independent fundraising. That’s not what you want though, just more handouts, while taking shots at your breadwinner. This coming from someone who believes all the sports are one and that the non revenue sports should be supported by football and basketball. They are though, and the notion that they aren’t treated fairly is beyond my comprehension. There is tons of money pumped into this program. There will never be a monetary ROI for any of that money. It’s a loss, always. Instead of being appreciative, you demand more. You’re not looking for ways to raise the money to pay for what you want, you just want the money handed to you because “they have it”.
The defensive woes continue and from the same side of the field. Starting to get worried about conference player as this is becoming a trend and these are not quality teams. Holtorf batting good today but that glove is a liability. She doesn't seem to get square and many balls. Was hoping Comia would continue to play and get experience before the conference schedule starts because you don't want her cutting her teeth during that part of the season and to me it looks like that move is just a matter of time. We can't have that entire side a liability and while Cahalan isn't error free herself, it seems like a less frequent rate of mistakes.
Agreed. I believe we already have six errors in fifteen games on the left side of the infield. That won't cut it. For comparison, we only had 11 errors on the left side of the infield last year for the entire season. And it was really 10 since Ariel was credited with three errors when one of them was a perfect throw that Mia dropped and Ariel was inexplicably charged with an error. She had two legit errors the entire season. We already have two at third.
Some good softball teams got beat today. Stanford beat Texas. Louisiana Tech beat Auburn. Minnesota beat Missouri. Appalachian St. beat Georgia. FSU is loosing to SE Louisiana in the 6th. Not unexpectedly but Alabama lost to VA Tech and now have the worst record in the SEC.
Tennessee is up 3-0 over UCLA going into the bottom of two. Addison Fisher, pitching for UCLA, was the consensus best incoming freshman pitcher in the country. I don't really disagree with that. She, in two innings, has given up three runs, six hits and walked two.
Pickens, through two, has given up one hit to UCLA and no runs. I saw that yesterday she hit 77 mph with a pitch. Damn.
As for Bama, this has to end for Murphy at some point and soon. A significant percentage of their supporters have wanted him gone for years. He keeps losing elite players who get out of Tuscaloosa on the nearest train. But he keeps pulling off the unexpected, as last year landing in the WCWS after a very so-so year. And he has survived to this point. I can't believe it will continue. And I'm not losing any sleep over it.
So Weekly pulls Pickens after 69 pitches with UT up 3-1. Jordan Woolery just went yard and now UCLA is up 4-3. Woolery is a junior stud. I've watched her play a ton of travel games before getting to UCLA. She played for several years on Athletic Mercado with Pollard and Hovermale. Weekly brought in Mardjetko, the transfer from South Carolina, and she gave up a three run bomb.
Tennessee goes down 4-3. They are now 12-3 but the losses were to Nebraska (Jordy Bahl), Oregon and UCLA.
The one thing I'm really noticing this year are the lack of free bases by keagan and ava. That was a part of the pitching game that really put us in tight spots. Now the tight spots are from errors or just plain missed balls but I really like that improvement in the pitching game.
I have no sympathy for Weekly. I don't know how she was picked SEC coach of the year last year when going into the season she had the #1 ranked team voted by the coaches preseason, and Walton had something like the 7th or 8th preseason ranking, won the SEC Tourney, and went to the WCWS. How does that happen?
Interesting to see the die hard, 100%, zero back down UAA defenders out in force. Adamant. This program is just back to within shouting distance of actually winning a title and we've already got dedicated folks to the idea that hoping to take the next step to a championship is "entitlement." Tamping down expectations, again and again. Stricklin has won. We're all losers now and we're all fine with it.
Did you mean to see you didn’t agree with Fisher being the top prospect? Not attempting to correct you, but from what I’ve seen from her so far I feel like she is not any better than Heavener, Lowry, or Red. I know we haven’t seen Red but we know she’s capable from fall.
If the core of the power hitting lineup keeps playing like this in league play it's going to be a long season. Major red flags.
