We had a lot of different player get time this weekend as they should but the full time starters also have to get stamina built back for the long season. We are two weekends in... we had one bad loss that had a lot of contributing factors. We will learn from it and be better. We learned last year that the core of this group is very resilient.

One of my weather apps is showing that the rain should be tapering off around 6:00 tonight in Jacksonville, and another one is showing that it will still be coming down pretty hard throughout the evening. I'm in Jax, so whatever call is made won't impact me too much, but I'm curious as to what the decision will be/when it will be made. I want the girls to get rest, but I also, selfishly, want to watch them play since I only get to go to a handful of games each year. (And.. UNF's concession stand has really good french fries. Like REALLY good. Doesn't make up for their sub-par facilities, but they're definitely something I look forward to...ha.)

Baseball has been cancelled. Look for softball to be next. The weather isn't fit for either sport.

ET, keep us updated. I have a ticket to game but would prefer not to go and sit in cold and possible rain.

It may stop raining in time, but the temperatures, winds and wind chill, and condition of the outfield will make the game unplayable. Glad they cancelled as it isn't worth it for the players or fans. I do hope the game can be rescheduled as baseball is doing.

We play Grand Canyon this weekend. They are currently rated No. 2 in mid majors.

I have solved the problem about the number of softball games being broadcast. Keagan, Jocelyn, & Taylor need to tell CTW they are going to enter the portal if UF doesn't broadcast as many games as the other top SEC softball programs. That would do it. UF couldn't get those cameras to KSP soon enough......PS: If Katelynn joined the protest group they would probably start streaming practices as well.

Well, that won't work since Tim doesn't have any control over broadcasts other than trying to schedule mid-week games and picking better tournaments. And it wouldn't shock me to learn that the families are seeing games we don't see, at least to some extent even if a minimum broadcast. In any event, I mentioned earlier that I would compile February statistics on broadcasts for all of the SEC and our main rivals. Once February is over I will try to break it down more specifically to include specific home stats rather than overall number of games available. For now, through today, these are simply the number of games that have been broadcast one way or another for these teams: UF=5; FSU=10; Tennessee=11; Ole Miss=6; UGA=12; UCF=9; A&M=11; Arky=4; USC=10; Bama=9; Mizzou=14; Auburn=9; LSU=10; Texas=8; Oklahoma=7; Kentucky=10; Mississippi State=11.

It's crazy what a low priority UF puts on softball. However, from what I saw, Oklahoma has had 9 of their 10 games televised. Their very first game in San Diego against Cal State Northridge was not televised. Their 2nd game against San Diego State was on the Mountain West TV Network and their next game against Cal Baptist was televised on SoonerSports.com per their website. The last 7 games have all been on ESPN+.

Interesting. I said earlier I can't claim my numbers would be totally accurate but should be close. I never considered the Mountain West network. What blows my mind is saying a game was on SoonerSports.com. From everything I know, that should never happen. No SEC team is allowed to broadcast an event other than on SEC Network, SEC+ or one of the main ESPN channels. That's why the Longhorn Network no longer exists. If that really happened, and I certainly don't doubt you, then I am royally pissed.

I checked the videos on demand on SoonerSports.com and there is no video for the Cal Baptist you only are able to hear the live radio audio just like we do on floridagators.com on live games if you elect to listen to the games via the website audio.

You may be right. But on the Sooners Softball website, where their schedule is shown, for that game it has written TV: SoonerSports.com. The point is that, regardless of one game here or there. Florida has the least amount of games being shown on TV of any other SEC team and it's ridiculous. And except for Florida, it appears that most all the other SEC schools televise ALL of their home games.

Entitlement?? How about simply wanting us to be equal to all the other SEC schools in televising ALL of our home softball games. That's a reasonable request and expectation, IMO, and a valid criticism of the UF athletics department who has CHOSEN not to do it. There are simply no valid reasons why THE University of Florida can't do what the other SEC schools are doing.

I was just checking out if Oklahoma was being allowed special treatment. Believe me I want more games televised as I live in Texas and that's the only way I'm able to see games. I have been sending emails for years to the AD and various other staff that it's an asham that UF athletics and the University treats UF alumni and fans as if you don't live in Gainesville or the local area to attend softball games then tough S***. I think anything that shows up on anything ESPN adds money to that annual paycheck that the SEC distributes every year the same as money from tickets. I wear Gator apparel everyday and have had non Gators tell me they follow Gator sports teams. GO GATORS. p. s. I'm probably the oldest (83) Gator alumni on this thread

They’ve told you why they don’t broadcast all the games. They don’t want to pay for it. Give them the money and they’ll be glad to spend it. Softball is already subsidized. The folks complaining about this are trying to watch from home which means they aren’t supporting the team in person, so they aren’t buying tickets, and likely aren’t contributing in any other meaningful way. It’s just not the group I would go out of my way to cater to. A dozen crotchety old men that bombard the athletic dept with emails and demands while contributing nothing to the bottom line.

The guys actually pumping money in are contributing to NIL, which is where I’d direct any available funds too. Those guys are buying tickets and supporting the team in person though, not complaining they’re going to miss a couple early season games on tv.

Totally disagree with almost all of those suppositions. Some of us have valid reason why we can't go to games or contribute money. But I have personal contact with many who give significant NIL money to softball AND go to most games, home and away. And they, also, are not happy with the decision not to televise games like the rest of the SEC does. UF HAS the small amount of money it would take to televise ALL home games on SEC+ or ESPN+ if they aren't on a regular SEC or ESPN channel. It prevents many softball parents, family and friends from being able to watch their kids play more often and it limits the number of times recruits can see the Gators play. It's not just a bunch of old cheap men (paraphrasing your inaccurate characterization) who are affected by this decision. UF AA simply CHOOSES to minimize softball for no reason and a bunch of us are not going to quit encouraging a change in behavior until it happens.
