In spring 2022 Makenna Bellaire would have been a Freshman. “#9” out of several hundred would have been very good. So, if CTW and staff were high on her signing her, she must have excelled to the top tier of the catcher talent (1-3) for of the state of Florida. (65th ranking in SA signing class). After you observed the date of the article (thanks, much!), I tried to find a similar article for this year, but could not. This is probably because the 2025 high school softball season has not started.
Long time lurker... first time poster. Did we ever get any info as to Oxley's injury status? I didn't get to see any fall ball this year, but I found one of her travel team's games on youtube, and dang... Red can sling that ball.
I knew she threw in the fall... but she had that giant brace on her knee/wasn't in full uniform in the pics from the Orange and Blue game.
Still see the replay of her running into the outfield wall of that 2016 super in my head. Nothing she could do about it. She was a great and fun player to watch.
Player nicknames… Does anybody know who “Cookie” is? It’s on one of the personalized gloves. Korbe dressed as a cookie on Halloween. Is that a clue? Just a little trivia that someone might know.
Anyone care to make a prediction on how we will use the designated player role this year? It would appear that Keagan and Ava will be batting and I believe Red had a good bat as well. So, will all of our pitchers do their own batting and the DP will go to the worst bat in the defensive field or will the pitchers not named Ava bat sparingly as a new look if we struggle with the typical DP?
The ongoing, continued interest in Gator softball continues to amaze me. What fans this program has!!!
I predict that Reagan DPs most of the time. After all she is an All America at DP. Keagan and Ava will get their bats. Red(Katelynn) will concentrate on pitching like Keagan did last year. Reagan will also gets some starts at 3B and 1B as the opponent or situation dictates. CTW has some hard choices.
