Fun so far because it is SEC softball. But as expected. Tennessee is good. Kentucky is terrible. We don't play either.

I just looked at the schedule. We play FSU at Tallahassee but there is no return game in Gainesville. What's with that?

Interesting playing in Arizona instead of California. Tim usually tries to give out of state kids a chance for their families to watch them play. Rylee and Jocey are from Arizona and I'll bet that has a lot to do with it. Not positive ASU streams their games but there is a decent chance we will be able to see them. Edit: We also have 7 kids from California, Texas and Colorado so Arizona makes a lot of sense as travel for all of them isn't horrible. That trip looks like a big family reunion for everybody.

He promised Jocey they would play there when he was recruiting her.
As you say, it is good for the Texas and California families.
    Win-Win

I am as far removed from a Karen Weekly fan as you can get but I thought her lengthy interview very interesting. In terms of how much the game has changed in her 24 years and how the way she spends her time now as before. Now it is much more player and staff management and much less hands on instruction.

Our sometime future head coach (and I firmly believe that) is in the UF HOF. I don't know if Amanda or Francesca is the most full-in former Gator but I think they are probably tied.

It has been a really sloppy game, and not surprising since they are just experimenting with players everywhere, but major props to UK for broadcasting the game. We could learn something.

To me, if you are announcing at a stadium or on a broadcast, it is the height of laziness not to learn the correct pronunciation of each participant's name.
Not only that, but it is also insulting to them.
Cardozo was mispronouncing Isabel's name, and I called into the radio show and called him out.

The whole night was a circus on the PA....mutliple times they would call the wrong player when the roster had multiple guys w same number. Announce TE Amir Jackson for making an interception rather than safety Bridges, etc.

In recent past years it seems a shame that so many seats are empty behind home plate (sections 102, 103 and 104) for pre-conference games and weekday games. It just doesn’t make for a good crowd experience for fans or the players. Any ideas? One might be to limit season ticket sales in those areas to half the seats? Or maybe allow seats to be filled in after the third inning?

Allowing seats in 102, 103, 104 to be filled after the third inning seems like a good idea to me.FWIW I sit in 103 midweek and non-conference weekend games there are always seats available around me.

I was able to sell all of my tickets last year when I couldn’t attend. I was able to sell them for conference games, nonconference games, and for the tournaments, even the preseason tournament. There are a lot of people out there that wanna go if you let them know that the tickets are available they will buy them in a heartbeat.

I was able to sell them at the ticket office price. $30 for conference games and FSU, $20 for non-conference games, I went to regionals and super regionals so I don’t know what ticket Office charged then, for things like the bubbly. I think they dropped it down to $18 per ticket or something like that. Bottom line, my seats were always filled. it does take a little bit of effort to tell fans that the seats are available, I would say that I sold them same day every time I posted.

If everyone who knows they can’t go would offer up their tickets that would surely help….

Arrived a little late for last Thursdays Orange and Blue scrimmage but here are some notes.

    P Brown
    C Erickson
    1B Hovermale
    2B Comia
    SS Holtorf
    3B Barnard
    LF Otis
    CF Thomas
    RF Lamar

Falby bunt/slap. Comia dropped the ball on the throw to 1st covering the bag.
    Shumaker fly out.
Walsh single deep into the hole of SS. Holtorf tried throwing the 3rd to get Falby but the throw bounced off of Falbys foot and away. Falby scored. Walsh to 3B.
Williams with a hard grounder that hit Walsh in the baseline.
Kowalewski with a soft dribbler to 2B. Comia fields cleanly with a should I throw it underhand or overhand dilemma before a underhand toss to first to get her by a step.

    P Rothrock
    C Kowalewski
    1B Walsh
2B Comia (2B was covered by multiple people playing both squads including Williams and Barnard)
    SS Williams
    3B Cahalan
    LF McLellan
    CF Falby
    RF Shumaker

Barnard struck out looking after a drive just foul over LF fence.
Lamar slow weak roller to 1st.
    Hovermale bouncer back to Rothrock.

Rothrock looks to be in great shape. A healthy offseason has done her good.

Cahalan smoked a liner to LF for a single.
Comia grounder to 2nd booted by Mia.
Rothrock hit a ground out to SS. Both runners advanced.
McLellan fly out to LF. No advance.
Falby ground out to 2b but she looked safe.

Olivia to pitcher. She’s has put in a lot of work in the last year physically.

Thomas bunt single, safe by a step. Good fielding by Miller and back hand toss just a second late.
Otis hard hit single under Comias glove at 2nd. Runners on first and second.
Erickson liner to cf for a single. Bags loaded.
Brown liner to CF. 2 runs in.
    Holtorf walked bags juiced again.
Barnard liner to first off of Walsh’s glove. 2 in.
Lamar bouncer up the middle. 2 in. Gabby at 2nd probably should have had it.
Hovermale ground out to SS. Mia bad throw to 2nd prevent a DP.
Thomas grounder to SS. Mia threw it into RF. Throw back by Shumaker was a bit wild. Walton coaching them up.
Korbe smoked a grounder through Mia’s glove at SS. 2 in.
    Erickson fly out to LF.
Brown double to left center gap. Close close play at 2nd. Brown was sure she was safe though.
Holtorf fly out to deep RF.

    Kara Hammock. pitching.

Shumaker hard grounder to Barnard now at 2nd. Botched it. Safe. Hobermale now at 3rd. Brown at 1st.
Walsh reached on an attempted back hand pick by Holtorf at SS.
Shumaker took 3rd after failed pickoff attempt at 2nd.
Williams K on change right down the middle.
Kowalewski infield single on a dribbler that went 7 feet.
Cahlahn reached on error by Brown as she attempted to throw the runner out at home. Lost the ball in the transfer to her throwing hand.
Comia ground out to SS. Good play by Holtorf.
Rothrock high foul out to LF.

And I got tired of taking notes at this point. I want to say Miller and Hammock each threw another inning. Hammock looks like she will contribute. Oxley threw the last half inning for both squads and looked good. Otis did smoke another hit off of Oxley because that’s what she does. No homeruns but a lot of hard hit balls. Bad defense today. No other way to put it. I’ll put it down to players learning new positions and the start of fall ball. With the number of players fighting for 2B, 3B, and SS every opportunity counts and poor defense showings aren’t going to cut it. It’s going to be a hell of a competition for RF as well. I think that will be a heavily rotated spot. It’s going to be nice to have a staff of pitchers this season.

As season ticket holders let’s make a pact here to make sure when you can’t go to a game or series, make effort sell your tickets at ticket off prices. First, start your effort on the board here, then branch out to other FB softball forums to sell. Please make your ticket offers at ticket office prices. I guarantee if we make the effort, the other fans will make an effort to be at the games when we can’t make it.
