A very nice pick up. She wasn't on the list as of Sept. 1 but he added her shortly later. She's an outfielder from Norcross, GA who plays for Georgia Impact. She also lists shortstop in her resume. For those that like rankings, she is #38 in Softball America rankings. Her teammate, Nina Carcone, is still active on the list. She is from Woodstock, GA (we recently had a kid from Woodstock you might remember...name is Skylar) and is the shortstop on Georgia Impact. Nina is ranked #29 on Softball America. Edit: Phil says Shayla is ranked #10 on some other list but he didn't mention which list. I'm just playing with this for those that like to follow rankings. Forget that. This is a good pick up.

Rick I found the ranking. She is #10 on Extra Inning Softball for 2026.

Class is about full you would think. Still have four names left that are active on my list and names to watch: Ella Kate Smith, Nina Carcone, Kelsie Donaldson and, of course, McLaine Hudson.

Keep the posts coming, you don’t know how normal feeling it is to have a chance to look at my gator country softball thread in the midst of all this madness going on in Augusta. I really appreciate all the postings when I get a chance to go through them. I sparingly get Internet access or a strong signal on my cell phone. My Internet access is coming through my grandson‘s hotspot from AT&T. Of course I’ve got Verizon. Verizon during the storm aftermath in August has been very spotty. I understand it’s not their fault. Thanks anyway guys, and ladies posting here. It just gives me a sense of normalcy.

Well, we know why McLaine Hudson hasn't pulled the trigger. She's still visiting....this time....FSU. On another note, another that Tim dropped long ago has committed. Jada Savage is a rhp from East Coweta, GA playing for Georgia Impact who had camped with us and is ranked #98 by Softball America. Going to Ole Miss.

I think i can see some differences between Keagan and Ava from the standpoint on how they may be best at attacking the plate. What does Red do best and do you guys think she can offer a different view from a batter stand point? We seem to keep getting really good pitchers but they are all righties, so my question is are there enough differences between them to change things up or are we hoping that Olivia can bring that kind of change from the opposite side. I have no clue if these pitchers are similar in style but everything coming from the same side worries me. I mean I wouldn't want an entire lineup of right or left handed batters. Does that make any sense?

That's a good get for them. Deifel is a very solid coach.

I'll take a shot. I think Red is pretty similar to Keagan. From what I have seen, pretty much the same style and similar assortment of pitches. While I agree it is preferable to have throwers from both sides of the circle, I don't think it is as important as it is in baseball.

Okay, I’m going out on a limb. I think Olivia is going to surprise us this year. I honestly think that coach Stephanie is going to do wonders for her. She did pitch two perfect games last year in five innings so we know she has some skill. Coach Dobbins changed her delivery when she came last year. I think maybe Coach Stephanie may perfect it. I was at the South Carolina series last year and she pitched for two innings in relief. She had a wicked change up coming in at 45 to 48 mph she made the South Carolina batter look foolish. Anyhow, I am high on Liv.

5:00 update: 180 mph winds. Wow. They expect it to hit some sheer winds before landfall that will weaken it some but this is going to devastate the Tampa area. They now have it going just north of Tampa which means the worst winds and worst storm surge will come right up Tampa Bay. This is a catastrophe if things don't change.
