As for these services " have a ton of people who watch softball and provide their input", I don't know but I have my doubts. Seems to me that a lot of them simply rely on the pub they have provided for years on a certain player, deserving or not, (Alexis Carrisquilo comes to mind) and probably to some extent what some high school or travel coaches tell them. And who would never speak ill of their player. I just find it very difficult to believe, based on the results that come to fore, that there is much of really in depth research and evaluation that goes into the majority of these rankings.

Agreed and don't change it. This thread and the portal thread are more than enough to keep informed and entertained. In all honesty, I usually ignore most of the game day threads. I mean, I'm watching the game....I don't need a play by play of something in writing I've just watched for myself. But, it it helps others that aren't watching the game, go for it and it serves a welcome purpose.

Oh it’s pretty preposterous for those others not to be even considered. I pay more attention here than the national boards ;)

  5. My postseason thoughts:

    1. Every year that CTW is our coach is a GREAT YEAR for Gator Softball!!! We are sooooo lucky to have him. There will never be enough accolades for Tim. Great Coach and Great Ambassador for the University and the Sport of Softball. Tim is Constantly Improving and Redefining Himself and his team damn near won it all this year. Bring on the freakin Sooners and Longhorns! We damn sure ain't scared.

    2. Lefty big swinger Taylor Shumaker will start for the Gators. Otis - Falby - Shumaker will be your '25 outfield. I like McLellan and if she sticks with the O&B and gets healthy she could be an OF star down the road.

    3. Ava Brown is a great player and won't be bumped from the starting lineup easily. The transition from HS to college softball is not easy. The season is LONG and grueling. Her BA may have tailed off late in the season but she is a WINNER, a powerful hitter and a bulldog on the field. Great Attitude, Toughness and a clear future TEAM LEADER.

    4. I had great hopes for Mia Williams this season. Her low BA was shocking to me. CTW kept her in there because he knows she has star middle infielder potential - both with the glove and the bat. Can't help but think the horrible injury she suffered had a lingering effect on her freshman year. Go Mia! Gator Nation is behind you!!!

    5. Keagan Rothrock. Damn girl. I thought Stacy Nelson, Hannah Rogers and Lauren Haeger were great pitchers. Safe to say we are all on the KEAGAN TRAIN!!!

I don't get the joke part, but okay.

We have quite a few regulars in the gymnastics thread who participate year-round. We actually put it to a vote to have one long continuous thread or start anew at the beginning of each school year. It was unanimous to compartmentalize on an annual basis.

LSU's Tiger Dropping Gymnastics Recruiting is one of the most active sites out there for year-round gymnastics information, not just recruiting. They compartmentalize around recruit signing day starting a new thread each year.

What happens for softball is outstanding with all of the quality posters who show up here. Ocala does a terrific job keeping the thread going. I was just letting you know what we do over in the gymnastics thread. Anyone here interested in gymnastics at all, come over and join in.

I agree! I believe 2024 performance was possibly impacted by a major shift in role-no longer #1 pitcher or batter and situational in not getting some starts to keep her sharp. I’m hoping Lauren Haeger-type performance is possible. FYI, in LH’s sophomore season: era 2.35 over 128 innings, 18 hr with .319 ba.

Nah, too much like that FSU chant.
I enjoy the "ring her up!" guy at KSP -- does it one time per batter with two strikes.
The FSU crowd does the "K Time" chant .... every .... single ... time.... over....and.....over.
Could be five times with the same batter.
    So annoying.

Went back a year and looked at some of the predictions we made. Porschegator said no senior would make the starting lineup.. Ocala said Hovermale would play third, Williams shortstop and Wallace second. Rick said TW doesn't care about the transfer portal. Well, how did that all work out? The only constant is Rick's constant beating of the drum for Taylor Shumaker. If this girl is half as good as he thinks she is, she will be the best player ever to put on a Gator uniform.

Exactly, the joke was that I took note of page 360 and stated as the joke that thread had gone full circle. 360°. That’s all that was meant in the statement. :)

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 29, 2024) — The U.S. Women’s Elite Team opened its 2024 season with an 11-1 run-rule victory (four innings) over Great Britain in Game 1 of the Exhibition Matchup series at Devon Park, highlighted by multi-hit performances from Ciara Briggs (2-for-2), Jocelyn Erickson (2-for-3) and Aubrey Leach (2-for-3). Shining for the Eagles at the plate, Erickson and Skylar Wallace each tabbed a home run in the matchup while the pitching staff of Kelly Maxwell and Lexi Kilfoyl combined for six strikeouts on the day. The pair allowed only three hits, while not giving up any earned runs.

Scoring early and often, the U.S. offense came out hot at the plate with five runs scored in the bottom of the first – with Jocelyn Erickson kicking off the action with a solo shot to center field. The Eagles plated another five runs in the bottom of the third which featured a three-run blast from Wallace. Great Britain managed to score one run in the top of the fourth due to a ground out RBI, while the final U.S. run was scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth to seal the win by way of the run-rule. Maxwell got the start in the circle for the Eagles, fanning four batters through three innings before Kilfoyl stepped in for two additional K’s in the top of the fourth to clinch Game 1.
