Ongoing UF Softball Commentary

Good find and a surprising one to me. To me it means she has moved away from Bandits-Conroy that is their premier team. This would be at best second in line 18U for them. I had to double-check because it surprises me but if you look at the Conroy roster versus this roster, the places everyone is committing to on Conroy are much higher level teams. That's why I couldn't find her originally. Couldn't find her on Conroy and didn't consider the other seemingly lesser alternative. Conroy is Illinois based and this new team for her is in Indiana where she lives. Could be a factor but where she lives in Indiana is very close to Chicago and, given she played several years for Conroy, I doubt that is a factor.

 

Taylor is on her third year on Batbusters-Stith which means she made that team when she was three years younger than the other elites. Quite an accomplishment. It does happen on the Batbusters but it is rare. Batbusters-Stith is simply loaded with the highest level talent every year. They don't win national championships every year but they do far more than they don't. Oklahoma for years has always taken four or more off that team. Jocey was one of them. But, we hold our own with the Batbusters. We get pretty much the same or more than anyone else other than Oklahoma. Currently Reagan and Jocey and others in the past such as Amanda and Sophia and several more. It is absolutely vital we keep that pipeline open.

Yeah. And Ohio, a community college, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State and a 2024 uncommitted which is really late in the game for a 2024 kid. There's no question this is not their premier team and the move by Comia to downgrade may have many plausible reasons or could be a little concerning. Your guess as good as mine.

ESPN USA Softball ranking looks good. Considering where UF started at the beginning of the season, #23 as I recall, finishing #3 is quite the accomplishment.

 

Gators started 18th in ESPN poll. They rose 15 spots which was the best in softball. Clemson fell the most starting at 7 and finishing 24.

 

Picked by the coaches to finish 7th in the SEC. One of Coach Walton’s best coaching jobs ever.

How can Kendra’s catch in center field just before she hit the inside the park home run not be the best play of the WCWS?? She does not make that catch. there may have been a different outcome all together. In a matter of minutes she makes two of the most outstanding plays in the Series.

 

Unless things have changed in the last 48 hours, KK will not be the graduate assistant. I believe 3 people on this board who will confirm this. We were asked NOT to divulge the name until CTW announces it, but I think everyone will be very pleased with the intended choice.

I can confirm and agree that folks will be very pleased with CTW’s choice.

 

I can not compete with Sandman on the number of games but I missed zero home weekend games, went to the WCWS with Gator 1990 and Sandman, attended the weekday games (Stetson, JU, FSU, and USF), the USF tournament, the Judy Garman in CA, for a total of 54 games and I did it coming from Texas. If anyone comes farther, I do not know them or have I heard of them!
