I would be tempted to start Ava game 1 vs the weakest opponent in the field and save Rothrock for tougher games. Not sure you want to have Keegan try and go 3/4 complete games in the heat in 3 days

 

She does a lot of Big 12 games I think. I know last year she did the Washington regional and was good. Ocasio is going to Lsu

I mean we were hitting 90 plus degrees in Orlando last week and again this week....I think weather certainly can be an issue this weekend , both heat and rain/lightning. I'm still happy getting game 1 under our belts and relaxing and seeing how game 2 plays out

 

CTW remembers 2011 as do I and Kelsey Bruder. Chris Drumm won the title that season not ASU.

Well I felt this team deserved a top 8 seed but I wasn’t convinced the selection committee would give it to them. I’m glad they did and #4 is awesome. Gotta win the games ahead of us but there’s an extremely viable path to the WCWS!

 

They were right on the cusp before the sec tourney. No way they weren’t getting it after that showing. I was pleasantly surprised about jumping all the way to four though.

I know I’m a broken record, but just win, the rest will work itself out.

No chance...she's been hit hard every outing of late. No need to go that far in the risk/reward.....KR and Ava unless there is garbage time or something really unexpected

No. It's only happened twice; the two regionals we hosted after 2017 when we clearly had some weather frustrations (2018, 2021). I think he realized that it's futile to try to leverage the advantage of trying to beat the weather vs. having a more comfortable atmosphere to play in (both with weather and fan support), but that's just a guess.

I'm not saying it's a bad decision. I'm saying that it's unusual and it sucks for fans wanting to attend. Obviously if he thinks it gives his team an edge, then that trumps any other factor. I'd be curious to know if he's given any kind of explanation for his selection. It would also be interesting to know if he has to pick before or after the times are announced.

We’ve probably gotten the easiest of all regional draws. Give Olivia her shot, she’ll be fine. We want to protect our ace arm as long possible. If our offense firing on almost all cylinders isn’t enough to take down this regional we got problems. We don’t have problems, we’re going to the WCWS.
