P.S. Did anyone notice # 52 Sara Longley on the field prior to the game taking to some players? Nice to see Reagan, Skyler and Kendra run up to talk to her.

Totally agree. Didn't know she was as fast as she showed today scoring from first on Ericson's hit.

 

Korbe is truly a gutsy player. She leads by example.

 

Korbe holds some Colorado track records. In HS, she played SB in the Fall and ran track in the Spring.

 

In the first 12 SEC games the Gators gave up 6 or more runs twice with an average of 3.7 runs per game. In the last 6 games they have given up 6 or more on 4 occasions with an average of 5 runs per game. I have no clue why this happening. Does anyone want to venture an opinion as to why the pitching staff is not as effective in the last third of the SEC season.

 

too many walks and too many hit batters = increased runs allowed. combined with uf hitting slump = 3-3 in last 6 sec games. usc 4 run 2nd started with leadoff walk.

Not a pitching coach, but my guess would be some fatigue setting in for freshmen combined with more game film to study by the opposition .

Along those lines id say Vawter looked very good yesterday but got hammered today. Was surprised she didn't start today, but I guess their coach knew better. Given all the hype, thought she would be better.

 

Her grandfather said she has been working her butt off in the pitching lab. Great article.
To put a cherry on top, her mother's and her grandfather's birthday are today.

 

vawter is better with left handers than right. i don't see what the fuss was about when we didn't get her.

 

FSU comes to town Wed. They are ranked in top 20 and even though they play a weaker schedule, they have won 10 in a row. Gators need this game to help their seed in their tournament at the end of the year.

 

Vawter looked tired today. Anyone out there yesterday can confirm how brutally hot it was. She wasn’t as good today. I’m guessing fatigued as well. Yesterday she was throwing a brutal, drop ball and killer change ups. Today there was none of that. Straight down the plate. No drop to it. Mid speeds.

 

By winning the LSU series this weekend, it looks like the Vols are in good shape to be regular season champs. Would take them losing their first series and UF or Aggies winning out ( not very likely). Crazy that LSU only scored 1 run in 3 games vs Vols.

Vols finish at Bama (8-10) and home vs KY (7-10) while Gators have Ga and second place Aggies.

She's not used to the humidity in the south yet especially fl. Why we have an advantage when hosting a super against a non sec team especially.... not that we've been against a non sec opponent in a while.
