Duke #1. Really. Duke beat Long Beach State 2-0. Gators beat Long Beach State 15-0 in five.

I fully understand and agree with just about all of what you said. Except the part where a loss is a win. I love this team. They seem to be competitive and bonded at the same time and what is being asked of Rothrock & Brown is almost unrealistic and yet they are coming through time after time. We all expected growing pains, but not this few. Heck the "experts" picked us to finish 8th in the SEC and we're sitting 2nd right now. Tonight will mark the halfway point of our SEC season and anything can happen, but I like our chances for a strong finish and a nice run in the post season. But still, we were 1 pitch away from a win and lost the game. Tough one and I know they learned from that. Let's hope they get 'em tonight.

That was crazy but this team has so much fight. That k from brown was my favorite moment.

They seem like a totally bonded team, young and old playing for each other. Fresh start with 2 new coaches, lots of new blood on the team, I love it!!!

These game delaying, momentum stealing, "why not?" challenges need to be ended by the NCAA. Leaving the bag early should not be challengeable.

CTW doesn't seem to play that game, although the last two opponent coaches certainly did (I'm definitely looking at you Torina). I understand the "why not--might get lucky" aspect of it from a coaches perspective. It's the NCAA Rules Committee that created the problem and needs to fix it.

I wonder whether there has ever been a walk-off strike out in the history of softball before tonight.

I don't know if it would have made a difference in tonights game but Beth is probably beating her self up using a challenge so early in the game. especially since Kendra looked out after peasants caught Otis line drive in that 1st inning.

Exactly my first thought when the term "gut punch" was brought up.

CTW asked for a review of a runner leaving early before Beth Torina. BTW, we should have T-shirts to proclaim Beth as UF's most favorite Tiger when she next returns to UF.

I like the rule and I love replay. I want to know the umpires got it right, but it is the responsibility of the runner to keep foot on base until pitch is out of hand. I really don't think it is a delaying tactic. If the coaches want to delay, they have a team meeting, or the coaches go to the circle. The coaches at Tennessee are irritatingly good at delays to slow down momentum.

Situational awareness won the game last night. Skylar was aware that first base was unoccupied and she challenged the catcher. Above all, when running to first base, she stayed in the runners lane, so there was no chance for interference. The catcher rushed the throw and threw it over Skylar and into right field. Plus, the first baseman never gave the catcher a path to throw the ball. LSU failed in the situation, the Gators didn’t fail and capitalized.

Those that say Sky is not a game changer, she proved you can change a game with your knowledge and softball IQ.

OK sport fans, back to softball. There will be scoreboard watching this weekend. Gators 1 game behind Vols go to MO 5 & 7. Tenn goes to Miss St 8 & 7. Advantage Gators. I think or am I wishing.

Some may have read these 2 articles about Mia Williams and Keagan Rothrock, but for those who haven't and for those who want a refresher, please take the time to read about these 2 special young ladies and the journeys they went through to get where they are today. These are players who have gone through difficult trials at a young age and came out more focused and mature than most their age. Incredible people!!

Missouri is pretty good too....funny they took 2 of 3 from LSU and all 3 games were one run differential.
I'll be very happy if we can take 2 of 3 again the week
