It's the "away" part that is the issue. UF folks were none too happy with JU baseball team's post-game antics after they beat us last week.

Does the softball team do their thing win or lose?

The JU team apparently went after one of our players trying to leave the field and told him get the f off their field, they own it now. That’s a little different than singing your fight song with your own fans, imo.

What the girls do seems harmless enough, but I don’t necessarily disagree it’s better kept for your home field. The football team does sing the alma mater with the traveling fans at aways games. More players participate after a win, but some still come do it after a loss.

First of all, is this really a new tradition? I thought we were doing this as far back as I followed Gator softball (like since 2008). Secondly, I see this as the team showing their appreciation for the Gator fans attendance support - both home and away. They go immediately in front of the seat section that has the Florida fan majority (usually behind the Gator dugout) and encourage fan participation in their chant. They don't do it from across the field to opponents or their fans, or disrespect any logos. They don't taunt or intimidate the other team or fans. In my book that is first class. I'm proud of the girls on-field behavior.

That JU baseball incident was completley different. Far from classy.

Gators went 4 & 0 last week against decent teams with winning records. Our talented ladies outscored their opponents 36 - 4 and D1Sotftball kept them at #10 in the rankings. Ridiculous.

Screw the polls, this is the best team UF has had since 2017. Hopefully, the team will use this for motivation.

We're #19 in RPI. That pre-season non-conference schedule was so weak it's going to affect our RPI all year. Just keep winning and things will work out fine, though.

d1 softball is very favorable to anyone but sec I've noticed. Washington and Duke have no business being ahead of us right now.

ESPN/USA poll has us at #10 just like D1 Softball, Softball America has us at #9. Duke is #6 in D1 Softball, #4 in ESPN/USA Today & Softball America. DSR has us at #7, Duke at #13.

What happened with her? I was going to ask where our 2024 recruits fit into our lineup next year…like at SS ? We have two OF and 2 infielders, and one pitcher. Thanks

Something triggered my memory regarding Jocey's two hits....both on balls low and away with a short, compact, confident swing driving the ball just inside the left field line. I figured out what it was. Absolutely identical in every detail with Amanda's SEC Championship hit in 2019 off of Montana Fouts. I can't find the video of Amanda's hit but it would be great to find it and compare it to the video of Jocey's two hits. I swear you can't separate the three swings.

I can't remember what position Shumaker plays but if it's outfield I say her and Townsen take over for Kistler and Falby. SS will have to be filled also.

Mickey Dean out at Auburn. Says it was his decision to resign at the end of the season and he will stay on at Auburn as some sort of assistant to the AD. I said four years ago when Maddie Penta changed her commitment from James Madison to follow him to Auburn that it would save his career that was questionable at the time. It did....at least for four years.

Both Taylor and Townsen are outfielders. Kendra has another year so it will be interesting to see which of those two take over right field. I haven't seen much of Townsen play in travel but her rep is outstanding. I have seen many games Taylor has played and she is a future superstar imo.

This has been in the works since the end of last season. I was told by an Auburn booster in June that Mickey was out ( not his choice) but they decided to keep him for Penta’s senior season otherwise she was going to transfer out.

we were lobbying her from the stands when they were here last season to come here for her senior year to no avail.

Funny aside, that weekend series was the one that @sandman70 got Mickey to sign a fedora and I told him at the time it would be a collectors item since he was done at Auburn.

I think @sandman70 is putting it up for sale if anyone here is a closet Auburn fan!
