time permitting and definitely no urgency, would be awesome for some of you gifted ones to start a Where are they now? of our girls from maybe our NC’s forward. Curious who have started families, careers, etc. Just a thought . Thnx for the consideration

 

Great idea. I wonder how and what Hannah Adams is doing now. She is one of my alltime favorites. Nobody played any harder or represented the Florida softball program any better than Hannah. I hope she is doing well and enjoying life.

 

Let’s include with the CTW era players. I started closely following the team in the 2008 run to the WCWS season.

 

Hannah recently joined the staff of some softball training center. I don't remember the specifics.

 

Something that bugs me. Our official stats show Jocey hitting .433 but her OBP is .412. I don't think I've ever seen an OBP lower than a batting average and I don't see how it is possible. Jocey has her hits and also has a walk that should push her OBP above her batting average. Can anyone explain is this is possible?

I figured out Jocey's situation. Sacrifice flies count as an at bat for the purposes of OBP. They do not count as an at bat for batting average. I didn't know that and Jocey's situation is rare because she has three SAC flies but only one walk pushing her OBP lower than her batting average. Even stranger, SAC bunts are not counted as an at bat or counted in OBP. I don't see the logic in any of this.

Maybe because on a SAC bunt you are willingly giving yourself up. On a SAC fly in many cases, you’re trying to get on base. I’m trying to guess at the logic.

FSU pitching is a disaster. They got bombed by a struggling UCLA yesterday giving up 11 walks and 14 hits. Today a good UGA team is taking them to the woodshed with 5 in the top of 1.

 

Was anyone at the game last night? Did I hear it right? Did Liv throw a 67 mph pitch? Can someone confirm what I thought I heard?

 

Hannah was at the game last night. I said hey and she gave me a big smile.

 

FSU down 10-1 in top of 2. Lonni is making constant changes and every one is blowing up in her face. Edit: Now 12-1 still in top of 2. After her touted freshman got bombed again, she brought in who she hoped to be the ace, Makenna Reid, who immediately gives up a 2 run bomb and has simply been terrible all year so far. Life, for FSU, after Sandercock. Edit again: Reid just gave up her second two run bomb of the inning and it is now 14-1.

 

On the other hand, UGA is a flat out scary team. Tony Baldwin has turned it into an elite program.

 

A Chelsey Dobbins NC recruit is a transfer portal pitcher for UGA this year. She transferred 3 weeks before Chelsey was signed as a coach. I’ll look her name up when I get a chance.

 

Lily Backes without looking it up and she is pitching very well for UGA.
