    Forget all these idiotic mid season D1 projections- these guys have to earn their meager bucks with idle speculation. Gators just have to keep playing solid quality baseball as we know they can and let the pundits on their fat butts write what they wish.
    Gators now top 10 in RPI and #5 in strength of schedule. 3-1 vs ACC. Forget that-- Bear down and keep on winning the rest will fall into place. After this weekend we can do it!.... Go Gators

    What's your issue with D1 Baseball? They're a major reason the coverage of the sport has exploded in recent years and have always been incredibly complementary of our program.

    Today in the Gainesville Sun there was about three column inches about the Friday and Saturday Gator baseball wins over #2 Arky and from the by-line it wasn't even written by a Gainesville Sun writer but was a cut and paste from the wire.

    They did have a nice color picture though.

    He can answer for himself, but I think he’s saying these midseason projections are pointless, and they are. Just win, rankings and projections right now mean nothing. Winning and continuing to win is the only thing that matters. Win and you get where you want to go, lose and you get to watch everyone else.

    For me it is sport dependent. With basketball it is whoever is playing Kentucky or Duke. If they play each other I hope for a bench clearing brawl where each team has to forfeit. I used to hope for a meteor strike, but that would take out too many consessions prople.

    But in baseball it is always FSU.

    I agree EXCEPT Kendall’s fascination with UF’s “lack of fan support” and Sully always being predicted to leave.

    The newest D1 Baseball rankings came out a little while ago. Tennessee is #1, Miami #2. Florida is #23. FSU & Vanderbilt have dropped out of the Top 25. The Noles are 18-13, Vandy is 22-9. Baseball America, also, has Tennessee & Miami 1 & 2, FSU #19 and neither Florida nor Vandy in their Top 25.

    Another ranking I just saw - Florida is #7 in the RPI rankings, which is critical come selection and seeding time for the NCAA tournament. Our SOS is #4 right now. While Tennessee is #1 in RPI, their SOS is only #50. Dallas Baptist is #2 in RPI with a 21-10 record, #1 SOS. Notre Dame, Miami, Georgia and Texas round out the Top 6 RPI, with #3 SOS being Georgia Tech, at #9 RPI. FSU is #34 in RPI, #6 SOS. Vandy is #19 RPI, #17 SOS. So in spite of their struggles, the Gators are still in good position for the NCAA tournament provided they get some more wins against the quality teams on their schedule. Taking 2 out of 3 from Vandy & Tennessee would be huge. Probably not going to win the SEC at this point, which is always goal #1. But from an RPI standpoint, they're in pretty decent shape.

    I guess it's good for UF, but RPI logic is just hard to buy into. I looked at Dallas Baptist schedule, doesn't look like a #1 or 2 to me. Other than sweeping Southern Miss, I c losses to the top programs on their schedule.

    We probably need to focus on getting to 14 SEC wins to be safe.

    At this point I’m going to be happy with our team if they realize the real need to stay focused one day—one game at the time. That’s when they will be able to say they are winners…..and to that point it can be the truth.

    I will sometiomes watch when Shohei Ohtani is pitching. Most incredible amount of baseball talent in one person I have ever seen. While I am old, I never saw Babe Ruth pitch. And he was a damn good one.

    I was an Astros fan for many, many years and still pull for them in spite of the cheating thing a few years ago. I became a Rays fan when Joe Madden was there and still admire their organization for the way they always have a competitive team without having anywhere near the money to spend as the big, rich franchises. I used to watch quite a few Rays games on Fox Sports Florida, but when DISH dropped them several years ago for wanting outrageous fees for carrying that grouping of channels, they aren't on much on the channels I still get and I'm not going to switch providers.

    Nick Pogue starting for UF at FSU tonight. He's 1-1 with a 3.37 ERA in 5.1 innings. Game on the ACC Network at 7 pm. Noles starting Jonah Scolaro. He's 1-3 with a 4.22 ERA in 21.1 innings.
