Back when Bear Bryant was coaching at Kentucky. His quarterback, I believe it was Babe Parilli, had a groin injury and the Bear was trying to figure out how to play him and keep him from getting hit. So, he had Babe line up 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage on passing plays and the center deep snapped the ball to him. The other team had to fight through the line of scrimmage and run 15 yards on every passing play to try to get to him. Needless to say, their rushers were totally gassed by the end of the game. (I’ll bet it helped Kentucky’s running game, too.) Kentucky won.
If we did this, think of how much time our receivers would have to get open, even if other teams chose not to rush him.
