You have a view of all the officials in the replay? Because if one of them did call it then it can change after they all discuss it.
They might have gone to the monitor for 2 things; clock and whether the player was out of bounds before being shoved. That’s just a guess on my part. Reverse the situation, and I have no doubt that we would have been clamoring for a foul, but that’s the nature of fandom.
yes- I would have been wanting a foul called. But I also would have recognized what an odd breach of procedure it would have been - even if it unfolded in Florida’s favor. Had Adams blown a whistle there …. fine. But he didn’t, and so the over ruling was entirely bizarre. Also- there was no shove. There was a collision.
Does anyone recall at about what time in the game the call was made? I should be able to find the play on ESPN+ and will look to see if a foul call was made by one of the refs. Thanks.
OT 38.4 seconds remaining. I have the clip saved on my phone. All three officials are viewable. No call is made other than by the nearest… who ruled oob/Florida possession.
The ball is inbounded with 39.3 seconds to go. The closest official calls it out of bounds with 38.4 seconds to go. The ref who handed the ball to the inbounds passer and is about 15 feet from the play with a good view immediately runs to the official who called the play. It is obvious that he is running to the other official because he saw the foul. The 3 refs confer, and the foul call is made. You have to go back to 39.3 to see the full play.
i have watched the entire scenario. Did you see Pat Adams (official who ran over from baseline position) signal a foul? I know you wanted to review the play to see if “ a foul call was made by one of the refs”. Did you see such?
Not until after the officials had met and discussed. I can't recall ever seeing a foul called like that before.
Respectfully disagree. We forced a terrible inbound toss. The player was going to land out of bounds. Both players are simultaneously leaping for a loose ball. I see it the same as when two guys hit the deck for a loose ball. The contact is almost never called. Couple that with the overturn and its a terrible call at a crucial, game/season altering moment.
BTW - for those reviewing the play, was Gatkek defending the inbound pass? I'm just curious, because he forced the bad inbound pass at the end of the Auburn game, having a big impact in a way that goes unnoticed.
I will be happy to clear up what actually went on with the refs and why they huddled. I had a great angle and am a certified authentic lip reader. It went like this: ref 1: what are we huddling for? I made the OOb call, Florida Ball. adams: Florida ball? That can’t happen. ref 1: what? Why? Adams: I need some attention, I like to stir up controversy. Plus, I hate gator fans. ref 1: yeah, we know. But video replay clearly shows the ball to Florida. We will get ripped if we reverse this. Adams: eh, I will just make up something, say I called a foul on Florida. Easy peazy. ref 1: man, seems pretty under handed. Adams: look, there is no way I’m letting Florida win this game. Can’t believe you called a foul near end of regulation for a 4 point play for the gators. I almost punched you in the face. ref 1: well, you make the call, I don’t care either way. Ref 2: wait, we are just going to change a call to help Adams help the gators lose? adams: yes, you are, then I’m gonna… At this point, they turned to walk onto the court so I couldn’t see anything else.
I don’t think it’s hyperbole. We win that game…. And we are potentially in the field. We won that game and the next… and I’m not depressed today! Lol!
