Earthquakes will eventually hit every place on Earth, given enough time. Besides that the type/strength of earthquake Nevada gets should be something that the engineers can protect against... under 4.5. Yes, no?

The biggest quake in lv history was a 7.3. Factor in liquefaction of that valley sediment also.

That's a real quake, but Las Vegas? Why didn't all those underground nuclear tests in the '50's and early '60's cause any real known quakes? You'd think those tests would have caused some kind of seismic activity.

I don't know... but tornadoes in Oklahoma are far more likely to happen than an earthquake in Las Vegas. I'd still move that building to Vegas. That's the place, state and city that it deserves to be built in.

Regarding the cost difference with stick frame vs CB, based on my rebuild in 2021 my builder estimated about $6000 move for the second story (about 2k sq ft) compared to 2x6. Some of the cost was due to a bit more labor higher up.
I went with the CB top to bottom it worked out as I saved money in the long run as lumber was shooting up big time when it was time to do the second lift..
