Oil prices dropping like a turd in a toilet.

    Ah, so there is a tax in addition to the "tag fee". Is the tax based on the estimated market value of the vehicle or on some other value?

    They've most likely started the process. The changeover usually isn't completed until late April (May 1 is the deadline). From the original linked article:
    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines April to June as the “transition season” for fuel production. Refineries lead this transition and switch over to summer-blend production in March and April.

    Didn’t catch that. Looks like they charge $110 more to register any EV regardless of miles driven.

    That all sounds reasonable as a flat payment. But as I said a more “precise” way would be to just do it by mileage to account for high mileage drivers vs those who drive much less. But I guess gas taxes only amount to $100-300 on avg (per Google search) anyway, so it isn’t too much of a big deal either way. I would have guessed more like ~$1000 that needed to be made up by the EV.
