I see the same gnashing of teeth about injuries in every sport.....people complaining about info on Lagway injury this spring, Coppola in baseball, Clayton Martin condo this hoops season. If you get info it's usually because it got leaked to media covering the sport and they posted to social media....the smaller sports don't have that level of exposure. And a lot of time those tweets are also wrong

Both of those sports have way more people in and around the program, and people actually asking the right questions to the right people. With football, there’s literally hundreds of people who know what’s going on. Stuff is bound to leak, but even there not everything gets out. With basketball, info is honestly about as hit or miss as it is anywhere else. Is Egbunu still coming back in January?

Yikes. Like someone else pointed out, this is like the Stuckey injury pulling the rug out.

Is there any advantage to our keeping dead silence? Do teams prepare by watching video and performing analytics? If so, the thought that Keagan might appear wastes their preparation time and keeps them from spending more time on our other pitchers.

 

I don't think it's done for any kind of advantage. It's just not done because nobody cares. The UAA isn't making these announcements for any sport. The info comes from within the individual programs. If the injured girls wanted you to know what's going on, you'd know. If Walton wanted you to know, you'd likely know at least something. Nobody in the program is going out of their way to get this info out there, and nobody with access is pressing for the info to be released.
