Billy is calling a B+ game so far. My only complaint is Johnson needs to sit and go ahead and hand the keys to the backfield to Baugh and Jackson. I love the young man, has a lot of heart, but Baugh and Jackson clearly have surpassed him.

 

You obviously have understanding others don't. It's halftime. We have a few minutes. Plz do elaborate.....

 

Big issue in the pass defense is we're not getting a consistent rush on Dart. Early on it was better, 2nd quarter was non existent. Which allowed him to just sit back there and cook the defense.

Contrast that with Lagway who's having to throw it with guys wrapped around his waist... Doesn't bode well for us, unfortunately.

We are running well - so hopefully that can eventually open something up downfield. Because so far every time Lags has gone deep the WR was double covered. They're not biting on the run fakes.

 

Agreed completely. If we happen to break a long then go more, but don’t give the ball back to them.

 

Some in this thread have been dropping eff bombs because of this game?? Lol.... we've been through way worse Billy coached games than this....

 

We shot ourselves in the foot just as often. The Int that went through the receiver’s hands and should have been a catch. We score on that drive and it is a 14-7 game, with the likely halftime score right now being 21-17 even if they made their FG. So this what if game goes both ways.

The defense stopped them on the first drive. Sure, they missed a FG on the second to last drive, but the defense has something to do with that.

 

Dike had the ball go off his hands for the pick. I do agree he needs to see some targets in the 2nd half though. Run game has been pretty solid though, if that keeps up PA will eventually hit.

 

I agree to a certain extent. Johnson needs to have a power back role. As a power back, he's quite effective. He's not quick or explosive enough to do what Napier is asking him to do

 

So what, everyone on this board hates announcers. Why do we care what they say?

 

We have so much speed and explosion at our disposal...

 

... and a timeout. Should have run our normal offense, but with a little pace. We have a kicker that can hit from 55. Plenty of time to pick up the yards we needed. Played a little scared moeny there.

The last two drives of the game were maddening to me. We had a 4th and 2 and punted. The last drive was vintage end-of-half Billy. Run the ball into a defense that is expecting it, and almost get forced to punt the ball back to the opposing team.

 

You'll never defeat the negative nancys unfortunately.
