I get that, I just found it odd to be concerned about such a benign post.

FWIW we post the hockey threads in the Football forum.

It's why you see the "OT" designation on posts. A board with thousands of members talking about nothing but Gators only would get stale imo.

I rewatched the game yesterday. LSU was giving us wide open looks from 3. Not all were gifts as many were well run plays to get a wide open shot. If we were a decent three point shooting squad we would have hit well over 40% from 3 with those looks instead of 20% .

Funny thing is that the LSU big man was shooting nearly 50% from 3 for the season before our game and he was 1-9 from downtown. LSU as a team shot even worse than we did from the arc. Give some credit to a very good defensive game plan and execution.

We are doing lots of things right. If only we could knock down open 3's.

 

Basically, more shots went into the basket. Lofton played some shooting guard with Jones being the initiator. I think we have morphed into a defense-first team and then try to hit enough shots to win it.

 

It certainly is possible that we could start shooting from three somewhat better. However, halfway through the season, I like the fact that we are now spreading out our players and creating more space in the paint for driving opportunities, cuts to the basket, and short jump shots.

 

I don't mind that if the main emphasis is talking about former Gators in the pros.

 

The guys are taking better advantage of having a center (stop calling him a forward) that can pass well. Earlier, the center (stop calling him a forward) was trying to do too much and everyone else would stand around and watch the center (stop calling him a forward).

 

I have never called him a forward.

 

I thought that LSU going 1-3-1 was really smart. It gives us corner 3 shots that we do not seem to make even when uncontested.

Maybe somebody gets hot on Saturday. If we hit shots we are really dangerous.

 

Sorry, I didn't mean you personally. I meant the media multiverse that keeps calling him a forward.

 

I don't think we make any 3-point shots with anything remotely like consistency.
It's so hard to fathom. Kowacie can hit 5 in a row, nothing but sweet string music, and then throw 30 in a row that aren't even close. I think part of his problem is that he fires a quick one as soon as he gets his first touch, no matter the down and distance. It clanks or misses everything and that sets the tone for him. Shot selection was his big issue last season and he hasn't outgrown it.
