How is that cheating???? First of all there is not rule against it. Second, it actually takes time away from the pitcher getting the ball in the circle where it becomes a dead ball. The bases are live before that. What advantage is it? If there was some great advantage, everyone would do it, yips or not.

 

Serious question...why do we never swing on a change up? Is it UF standard operating procedure?

I didn't say it was cheating, I said it was close to it and against the spirit of the game. I don't know why you consistently absolutely refuse to read what I write before popping off with a thousand question marks.

It absolutely, 100% does NOT take time from the pitcher because the ump doesn't start the pitch clock until she has it. The bases are live, yes, but she stands there and waits for the 1B to cover if there is a runner on third. If she's standing there with the ball in her hand the bases being live isn't an issue.

It gives an advantage TO AUBURN because if she didn't walk it back she'd presumably throw it away. Other teams don't do it because it's not an advantage for them. This is quite straightforward.

No, it's not cheating, but it still sucks and there should be a rule against it.

For the most part, the pitcher is walking toward her out of the circle. She gets the ball and the pitch clock starts and she wastes time walking back to the rubber instead of getting the ball directly. If the pitch clock is an issue, then she is hurting her pitcher by not throwing the ball back directly.
