Hopefully this plays out like it did vs LSU back in the day. They came in and punched us in our own house but we got revenge by knocking them out of the WCWS and we went on to win it all.

 

I agree that even if Rothrock is able to go Monday, no need to throw her tbh since we lost the series. We have a bye next week in the SEC and only play midweek games against lesser opponents. I think you just save her for the Auburn series. I still think Walton pulled out Ava way too early and should've gone back to her after we took the lead. Hammock is not the answer, I think Miller looked way better tbh. IDK how the DH would have gone if Rothrock was healthy. Once she is healthy i believe itll be Rothrock friday, Red saturday (maybe even brown), Sunday Brown or rothrock

 

I agree with everything you just said before the edit lol. I’ll add its a long season and not the first time the Gators have had some hiccups early in SEC play, thankfully they are almost always playing their best by the time it counts the most!

 

Okay, with conference now started I can finally watch some games. Tell me, where is Rothrock?

I missed Ava pitching, but he always seemed to do that to her last season. Never gave her the chance to settle in, it was all about Keagan, even when she clearly needed a break.

 

For the record, the team did *not* do the "Great to be a Florida Gator" after the game today -- win or lose, first time this season. Certainly understandable.

When Hammock clearly had nothing, inning after inning I was surprised that Brown didn't re-enter. Seems like she would have been our best chance after establishing that Hammock was having a bad day. I don't know crap about pitching, but with Hammock in the dumps, we needed a change long before one was made.

 

I also think that Texas just did a better job at situational hitting. We are leaving too many left on base.

 

That and they did a great job with a two-strike count. Most of the damage was done with two-strikes on the batter, sometimes 0-2.

 

Too many demoralizing errors today, what was it? 5 over two games with some hometown scoring on a couple of errors that were scored as hits. At one point we went back to back errors on double play balls. Can’t win with all these extra outs given via errors.

After today:

Mia: 5 errors .944 fielding %
Rylee: 6 errors .927 fielding %
Kenleigh: 6 errors .944 fielding %

 

When she came in completely wild with the game still very much attainable I don't know why he didn't bring Brown back or put Miller in. She clearly didn't have it.

 

I 100% agree promises were made but how long does CTW have to keep his word if the player doesn't perform or under performs. We have so many top recruits sitting on the bench it's unreal including the Top SS(Comia) and Top OF (Thomas) The one thing we really needed from the portal was a very strong #2 and didn't get it. Hammock is decent but she's not what we needed. Without Keegan today we looked horrible. Oxley is going to be the real deal but she literally has about 5 starts under her belt. It's hard to be mad at her for making a couple of bad pitches. Where Walton lost me was in Game 2 we took the lead back 7-6 no chance in Hell Hammock should have came back to pitch. Texas went back to their ACE. Walton waited until Hammock had totally blown the game and walked home 2 or 3 runs. It was like it didn't matter at that point. Meanwhile Texas is beating us like a Cherokee Drum on our field.

 

Fwiw I heard Thomas has red shirted.

 

I think she has some type of injury. From all I'v read, she's got Falby-like speed and is going to be a star.

 

With the outfield so stacked red shirting would make sense at this point if she’s dealing with a nagging injury. I’m excited to see her play eventually.

Texas is the team to beat right now, no doubt about it. We absolutely helped them but if this lights a fire under us then so be it. All that matters is that we fire on all cylinders come May. We felt flat all the way around imo yesterday except when Brown was in the circle.

 

I know she was voted a team captain and promises were probably made but Rylee has been struggling mightily and even her bat has gone mostly cold. She’s such a talented player so it’s got to be a mental thing. At some point I’d think CTW has to give Comia more time in the field. These defensive struggles from the whole team are getting more and more concerning. Defense was always something the Gators could hang their hats on and took immense pride in.

 

I m still in disagreement with the whole promises being made thing, but i think Tim truly belives in Rylees ability and we know she has it because she can be so smooth sometimes but I agree it's mental. Just like
Mia last year. She's pressing really hard. Her 1st year in SEC and end of her career. Just needs to free up. Even when she got the hit she didnt really celebrate it. Just looked super tight. Many more days like yesterday though and I belive that leash is short.

 

Yeah. Maybe stop trying to be Skylar and be herself, have fun and enjoy the moments.
