I would like to see DJ keep running it up but with our offensive line somebody misses a critical block and he gets hurt. I say pull him now. He’s had plenty of work.

 

What this game has shown me is that Lag is the real deal and needs to start if we have any chance of winning some games. He makes the offense better. It's like it was when Trask took over.
The OL imo remains shaky. Going against better D will be a real challenge for them.
The D has improved and I think they were energized by the offense but I'm still not convinced our DL can get penetration verses better teams.

So breaking it down to this, I learned tonight Lag is ready. That's my biggest takeaway.

Lags has played really well - there just seems to be a lack of energy in the Swamp

 

Here’s an idea invite DJ‘s dad down after the game to present DJ with the game ball in the locker room. Got to keep promoting our relationship with that family to keep him on board.

 

Good thing we loved to run all 160 pounds of him between the tackles while Gillislee sat on the bench because he “couldn’t pass block”… years off my life…

 

I don’t know if Lagway is ready or not. I do know he gives us the best chance of anything other than a train wreck of a season.

 

QB is the most important position in sports. Far more important than the head coach. Take two equal head coaches and give one a stud QB and who do you think will win. Belichick turned into just a guy without Brady. Brady won Arians a Superbowl.

We must keep DJ here to build our program. Think of the players who will come here just for him. Billy just needs to hire an OC and a better DC and get the heck out of the way. Head Coach builds the culture. That’s his job.

 

Mertz couldn’t make those throws against The University of Thin Air.

 

I think everyone is tepid about getting excited over Samford.

They understand the gravity of the game next week when A&M rolls in. Things could get ugly very quickly for our program with yet another loss so soon.

 

OK, I think we are all in 100% agreement that Samford defense is nowhere near Miami. But, does anyone think we would score this many long touchdowns passes with Graham at quarterback vs Samford?
Does anyone here think that Graham can throw the ball as well as DJ?
And lastly, does anyone here think that Billy thinks Graham throws better?
And I will finish with this - our offensive line against good teams will get DJ hurt and when Mertz comes back, he’ll probably get hurt again too. They are that bad.
