You know exactly what they are .
But we are a top public university!! Yippee ! We have a school full of nerds who don’t know a first down from a double play . You can count on them for contributions after they are gone .LOL
Too bad those kids who are legacy now are wearing UCF , FSU, FAU, USF gear and contributing to their schools.

A few years ago I retired from being a UF engineering prof. I wanted to go to Florida as an assistant prof because I saw the potential for UF becoming a great public university when back then we were ranked Top Ten only by Playboy as a party school. My department had a ton of great people that had retired from their home universities to spend some time at UF. Great mentors for me.

One of my bike racing buddies was a UF grad and he thanked me for helping make his degree so much more valuable with my service.

UF being a great public university is a double edged sword. It will piss off many alums when their kids can't get in.

Further to that I was in school in the mid 70s and attended quite a few baseball and basketball games. Tickets were easy to get, sellouts were rare and non existent in baseball. Teams weren't close to winning SEC titles much less NCs.. All my friends went to football games but that's it. The only NCs on the board were in golf and swimming.

This continued rant that Gator sports have gone downhill because of academics and foreign students is just nonsense and an excuse for poor coaching hires.

UF is the flagship university of the state and always will be. To say otherwise is nonsense. I understand the disappointment ( have nephews that couldn't get in) but if alum's want their kid to get accepted tell them to work harder and up their credentials.

I'm all for work harder and up your credentials, sure. I agree to a point. In a vacuum, it's 100% true. There are definitely flip of the coins as well. Unfortunately, they can't take every qualified candidate. There has to be some biased and subjective choice.

I graduated from UF in 2011. I know a lot has changed since then and this is anecdotal experience. I had a friend apply as a transfer the same time as I did. He was more qualified than I was, admittedly so. Somehow I got in and he didn't when applying to the same program from the same CC. We still wonder about what the difference was today.

Agreed and to your point. Folks underestimate the number of UF alum's out there with kids. Even if academics were dumbed down it is impossible to take all that want to come.
UFs in state student population is far above Bama's for instance.

Vols are good. Most predicted them to win the SEC as I recall. Of course they are usually good but crash and burn in the post season.

Watched that as well. Made Gator loss feel less disappointing but still a long way to get to that level again
