I'm re-watching the game and didn't really notice yesterday since I was so focused on the floor . . . but the Rowdy Reptiles and the background for the camera shots are amazing! Most dressed in white jerseys too and waving blue/silver pom poms. An entire side. Looks great!
Micah strikes me as a nice guy. Now we need to get him to the point of being Mr. Nice Guy off court, but the Hulk once the game starts. Hulk smash! It's kind of like when we had Chandler Parsons. He was a nice guy too, but tended to disappear at times because of that. When someone would cheap-shot him or hard-foul him, I would stand and cheer because I knew what was coming. Chandler would dominate the game for the next ten minutes, playing angry. I think he had to learn to harness and bring out his inner Hulk.
Play of the Game for me was in the first half, when Handlogten, covering Broome, deflected a pass to Richard, who grabbed it and took off in traffic, while Kugel raced ahead of him. Richard made a difficult bounce pass ahead to Kugel, who outran two defenders for the slam. Each one of those three Gators did exactly what they needed to to make that happen. There was no room for error but they pulled it off. Fantastic play.
Really good sequence, on both ends there. That was just beautiful basketball. That’s our trademark, to me. A running, moving, transitioning basketball team….constantly moving, getting in passing lanes and helping on defense with active hands & feet.
Just a perception - I acknowledge the reactionary nature, but I’m starting to get a Noah Locke ( he’s 40%, but just never seemed to hit the ones we needed) feeling. I like Richard , and he contributes in multiple areas including rebounding well for his size/position. Hence my mea culpa
Noah Locke? Sorry man don’t see it. Will brings so much more to the team than Locke did. Not comparable.
…..and I clearly said that I called myself out for a reactionary outburst in game. The NL comment was that as good as his shooting % was, he never seemed ( again my perception) to hit the big ones we really needed. Will is a much more versatile player, but strictly on his shooting, starting to give me the same vibe
Ok. I understand you. Just don’t think we need to “stop” anything. I don’t feel as though our discussion is hostile in any way. In fact, it seems we agree on most of it. I just find it hard to get the Noah vibe based on the shooting because the bigger picture makes that shooting so irrelevant. Will might not sink all the threes we need, but he’ll hit layups and other shots that Noah didn’t. Noah was basically 3 point shot or nothing, plus a liability on defense and rebounding (from what I recall without looking at stats).
Watching the replay reminds me how dirty Auburn is off-ball. Screens with pushes. Watch the 11:40 segment first half. #44 grabs two hands on Condon and throws him to the ground, then 5 seconds later, takes 2 steps and lowers his shoulder to "box out". Earlier in the game, Broome gave Condon a full shove on a screen. Condon must get under their skin.
