Again, where's Delbrey?

 

Save her for a winnable game, we ain't coming back from 7-1

 

Man, that was quick-1 hr 49 min.

 

I got dinged a couple of weeks ago for suggesting that we take advantage of the softball substitution rules: start Hightower, bring Trilick for the middle, then re-insert Hightower. Might keep the hitters from timing up.

 

Who starts tomorrow? Delbrey or Trlicek.

 

Or is there still something physically wrong with her? She hasn't been nearly as effective this year as last and velocity is down a good bit. I'm thinking she's not fully recovered from the off season surgery. Maybe not to the point where the doctors say she can't pitch - just not rehabbed enough to get her strength back. Just guessing.

 

Why in the world would Walton still let Bender pitch? 12+ ERA. And I am so tired of our pitchers in both baseball and softball continuously walking batters. Especially lead off batters.

 

Maybe he thought Bender would want to prove herself against her old team.

 

I have to believe CTW was playing the long game here, and looking at what’s my best chance to take a game or two from Tennessee. It wasn’t going to help with todays outcome by letting Tenn tune up for our next best pitcher. Let’s go with the earlier post of Bender being motivated by playing her former team.

 

Mercifully quick. Honestly not sure if I’ve ever seen a game that fast, not that I got to watch much of it.

 

Hopefully that’ll be an option we have starting next season.

Baseball and softball pitchers are not as good or as tough as a few yrs ago..

I wish I had access to your crystal ball. Next season’s incoming pitchers will drastically improve the Gators. A lot of pressure on freshman but I’ve no doubt they’ll rise to the occasion. Two new stud pitchers and a healthy Delbrey makes three solid pitchers on staff next season. But by all means preach the negative, have fun with that and dislike me to your hearts content.

 

Today’s game got ugly fast and it’s no excuse but the umpiring certainly didn’t help us out. Tennessee is simply a better team but that doesn’t mean we can’t beat them. Will we? Idk find out next two games. If the season ended today I’m not sure we host a regional but games remain to be played. Even if we don’t host we’re making the field of 64. Anything can happen in the playoffs, these ladies proved that in supers last season. Did anyone give them a chance going into that matchup on the road?
