Skylar and Rylee..got to talk to them more than the others..such sweet young ladies..they are not, I assure you, happy with their performance right now.

 

And talking about coaches like that in an open forum doesn't look good..

From the positive side, there were two enjoyable parts of this game:

First, seeing some amazing plays by Charla Echols, that even had a few of the SC fans applauding respectfully.

Second, when the SC fan behind me actually said out loud, "One more strike and we've seen a no-hitter!"

 

Well they didn't get that satisfaction lol

 

And apparently know nothing of softball superstitions.

 

Poor fan, I’m sure Kay Kay was happy to disappoint them lol.

 

I just wish we could have put some runs up there

 

SC pitcher brought the gas all day and hitters never adjusted. Kind of surprising, especially the top of the batting order. Thought we would at least drop down a bunt to make the pitcher field her position. Some good defense and pitched well enough to win, but a great opportunity to score in the first inn was wasted.

I knew SC has never been good in softball, but didn't realize it had been 20 years since we lost a series to them. Wow. Still can't believe we blew a 4 run lead in the Fri gm, leaving RT in too long.
Oh well. It's not how u start but how u finish the season. Long way to go, but it's uphill.

 

If they don’t play better even making the ncaa tournament may be difficult. And before you think that’s histrionics, we have played teams that are a combined 11-20 in league and we are 4-5. Our rpi was 21 before this weekend, and heaven knows how far it falls after this weekend. We have one win against a ranked team to date.
But worse, our remaining series are against 1,2,4,5 and 12 in league standings. What do you honestly think our record will be against that stretch if we continue this way? Do we really get in at 9-15 in league for example?

 

People counted last years team out..and they got in..so I will see how the rest of the season goes before throwing in the towel

 

^^ It's softball, not baseball. SEC has put 12 of the 13 teams in the last 2 seasons. I believe the Aggies made it last year with less than 9 wins. Similar story the year before.
We would be on the road and certainly not the Gator standard tho. I'm still surprised at the drop off this year.

 

All valid points. But the way I'm starting to look at it is that after 17 years with Tim Walton at the helm, we're due for an off year. He's had this program playing at such a consistently high level for so long, it was bound to happen at some point. Who knows how the season will play out, but it is definitely an uphill battle and I have every confidence that Coach will do what it takes to right the ship - if not this year, next year. Gator softball is in good hands.

 

Yeah they got In with less, but all of their conference wins were over ranked teams, including 2 of three vs Bama, and wins over us, LSU, Arkie, and UGA. We could sweep Ole Miss, win 2 or 3 other games, and still have a worse resume than A&M did last year. We have one ranked win all year to now.
So we have work to do, which is a sad commentary on where the program is right now.

 

Charla now 7th on the team in conference BA (222). That isn't exactly getting the job done for the number 3 in the batting order.
