There was one call that really made a huge difference in the game. It was late in the first half and Richard was going in for an easy lay-up. He got clearly fouled on the arm and the ball bounced off of his thigh and the refs awarded the ball to UK. That was part of the 7-0 UK run at the end of the first half. One call like that can be killer.
I appreciate Lofton and Jones steadiness, but neither want the ball in crunch. I was hoping it would be Richard but he's inconsistent. Could be Kugel by default but still immature.
Perhaps it was in the gameplan or something that Kentucky was doing defensively, but Lofton and Jones had one assist between them, which for 66 minutes on the floor is incredibly low.
I thought Lofton who was 3 for 3 on three pointers and 5 for seven on all fg’s, was very steady. When you play Kentucky at Rupp, to only have two turnovers for the whole game, and shut down Reeves who has been a big scorer for them as of late, He played awesome. the assist thing, he would have had some if the guys trying to finish inside would have made a decent percentage. Jones played good defense and was steady throughout the game, but his shooting in a tight game was bad. Again he tried a lot of passes for assists but again not many scoring finishes from his teammates. This along with poor three point shooting by the whole team, a lot of forced shots, it wasn’t a good night to rack up assists. Kentucky is good, not great, but at home with the refs who are cowards to call fouls on Big Blue, it makes Kentucky even better.
Wallace had one shoulder bump and push off on one of his shots, they replayed it and even the announcers said he got away with one. Oscar was shown grabbing CC twice going to the basket and didn’t get a call. Weak to bad officiating and the crowd steered the calls and the refs had no cochonnes!
‘Doug The Blue Coat’ called into Kentucky Sports Radio on Monday and shared the news that the athletic department had relieved him of his duties. He had held the position for 19 years.
