Hate to repeat this, but after the West Coast disaster, I posted that this team was in for a rude awakening when the SEC games kicked in. Below average pitching and hitting would be their undoing.

This series exemplifies what we’ll see the rest of this season. Walton’s less than stellar recruiting and player development the past few seasons has come home to roost.

I’m anxious for next year’s recruiting class to arrive. Now, CTW needs to replicate that over and over. I know he can do it.

Sure makes mid-week games more important. Try and win one on the road and two at home. I knew we were bad when Mizzou is 1-8 and the only victory was against us. But the SEC is the best conference so get in the playoffs and maybe a miracle will happen.

To be clear that was very embarrassing to watch as a lover of the softball program and have made it clear to anyone who will listen in the past that the program has lost an edge to it. I have a great niece who is in her Freshman year in HS and grew up a Gator fan and she does not even have us in her top 10 right now because she does not consider us on the same level as top tier programs at the moment. Neither do most of her teamates on her traveling squad

 

The problem is he has no one to develop the players he has recruited. We need a change in the batting and pitching coaches as soon as possible. I know we have the #1 recruiting class for next year, but this will not continue if we do not have developers of incoming talent.

Me too. Also concerned Skylar might say enough is enough and transfer out. She transferred in to win not get embarrassed.

It really makes you scratch your head. Most of our starting lineup were top ten National recruits. They come to UF and struggle to hit. Looked like this year might be different as several girls hit .400 against our tomato can non conference schedule. But now we’re struggling again. Pitching makes more sense as we just don’t have an SEC quality ace right now. Next year we bring in a once in a decade type of highschool ace, ranked number one recruit in country and a second pitcher with similar number’s who is number three recruit. At some point these players need to perform up to their abilities. Are we not developing this talent? Seemed like our last pitching coach was able to develop two or three capable pitchers at a time. Next year should be put up or shut up time for the coaching staff.

 

This is disheartening to hear but I can’t disagree. Can’t blame HS kids for feeling that way either, it’s just the way college athletics is, kids want to play where they think they’ll be most successful and have a chance to win it all. Sadly the Gators haven’t been putting an enticing product on the field in recent seasons.
