I was talking about D and the glass. He was very late on some switches and got caught flat footed in hell situations. Two consecutive, tough 30-minute outings was a lot on him.

There was a weird play in the last couple minutes where Clayton airballed a transition three, the ball went right to Richard on the far side of the rim with a seemingly wide open lay-up and then he just kind of...fell down? He lost the ball back to Baylor. Was he tripped or pushed or something?

Well, we repeatedly mixed up our ball screen coverages. And you are gonna live with a guard trying to back you down in the paint. Those shots weren’t going in the first half when Samuel and Condon were contesting on fresh legs. It also didn’t help that we had that we were playing Richard at the four for a third of the game.

Oh, yea. He’ll benefit from watching the tape. Not a lot of offenses run it better than what he saw tonight. Gotta give credit where it’s due.

Watching live in the arena it looked like a foul, but no replays in Barclays so hard to tell.

Oversimplification, but it seemed like the difference was that we did not stop there three point shooters. I had no confidence that we could get a stop when we needed it today. Baylor is a resilient and tough opponent. We needed someone else besides Riley to have a big night. Just fell short, but I feel like we missed Handlogten a lot tonight on the boards.

No replay on the ESPN feed either. I thought he was fouled but that is what I wanted to see.

Bang-bang it looked like a foul to me on TV too. Maybe the refs had bad angles. Not common but it happens. Like @GatorLurker said, no TV replay that I saw.

At the end of the game me and my daughter ran down to the tunnel to say good game to the players as they walked through. I missed most of the players but caught Coach Golden and he said hi to us. I wonder if he recognized us from when we met him earlier this year. I was wearing the same Gator jacket so maybe.

Yep, because Handlogten is a great 3pt defender:ninja2:

Baylor is an elite 3 point shooting team and it looked like we wanted them to take threes as a game plan. Did Golden think that our only chance was for them to have an off night? If we would have given up some easy twos instead of letting them shoot uncontested threes we might have won this game.

We haven't been excellent at defending the 3. Still, they miss one, we make one, we win. We are good and will get better. A lot better I think.

We had to be so much better than them in every aspect of the game that wasn't three point shooting to win this game.

While we were close (four points) the game wasn't really that close.

Seriously? Golden said in the presser that they had to adjust their ball screen coverage in the middle of the first half because we were getting caught in their off ball screens and were getting lost on some switches. That adjustment helped us get back into it, but they took advantage of that and got into the lane regularly in the second half.

They hit a lot of open look threes in the second half.

Shot selection is rough sometimes. When Richards is 0 for his last 100 in this tournament, then it's probably best not to keep shooting. Saw Aberdeen take some difficult shots as well, which are empty possessions, often leading to fast breaks going the other way. Obviously, as im sure been mentioned, guarding the 3 point line, which sometimes was non-existent needs to improve a lot. Still, a lot to be excited about, but they're going to have to learn to win these close games and vs ranked teams.

Guessing this is a joke but his rim protection helps our guards close harder on shooters and he definitely affects some of those ISO’s where Dennis just got to operate inside cause we weren’t helping off spot up shooters

The only player I saw who was caught in no man’s land defensively was Aberdeen and that’s to be expected. Everyone else did an outstanding job. It’s rather difficult to defend the three any better without fouling when the opponent knows how to move the ball. If it were easy then Golden State wouldn’t have been the team to beat for so many years. Baylor just flat out shot the ball better, it happens. It’s not a coaching or player error.

That was a huge moment for him and Golden. Not many coaches would’ve put him back in but it shows great trust. Truth is that we’re going to need Aberdeen all year with how hard our guards play. He has to learn how to grow and only way to do that is game reps.

Good game by both teams. Baylor was just better last night. The game was so high energy that it felt like an NCAA tournament game.
