Ole Miss had not eclipsed 100 since 2013. No, not just against us. Or just against an SEC team. Or just against a power 5 team. Against ANYBODY.

Damn, I had such great expectations for this game. Really thought we'd have blown Ole Piss out of their gym.

    Too bad I'm a dumbass.

    103 pts? really?

I like the idea of playing fast, but something is off with our transition D. Like… so far off I wonder what we are even doing or emphasizing in practice? We make no effort to stop the ball in transition. Ole Miss player getting early and deep post position, basically not even putting a body on them until they get the ball right at the basket. That happened at least 5 times.

We have issues on offense as well, but there is no excuse for D to be this bad as that tends to be effort and scheme. It’s not like we are undersized this year, so it’s really inexplicable how poor we are defensively as a team.

Obviously playing fast on our side strains defense going the other way. Should we slow it down? Try some zone on D? Hard to say that, given we also seem to have big issues in half court offense (I don’t think we’d win many if it came down to half course efficiency). Still, can’t keep banging heads against the wall, something has to change. It’s like we’ve lost fundamentals and just devolved into playing fast streetball.

We are the flagship University of Florida.
Please tell me why FAU and FGCU have better basketball programs than us? Also, UM has a solid BB program that is better than UF. sad

Oh, please. Fouls or lack thereof called did NOT cost us this game.

Didn't someone in this thread say Kugel wasn't even on the bench in the 2nd half?

I noticed you left baseball out of there. Best not leave Sully out of it or he will come looking for you.

You are right. I did misunderstand your post. Sorry.
But I do blame you for this loss. Please go fishing next game :)

Gosh, I really thought we'd run the Land Shark Rebs out of the Hump.
I guess we aren't the team I thought we were.
    Very disappointing.

At least Condon fights on both ends, for the short time he has been playing basketball. He and Handlogten need to work on shooting threes instead of passing in traffic, Haugh too. They are tall enough to get their shots but are passing them up. This allow other teams to pack the lane. They are better shooters than Samuel, Kugel and now Richards who is in a slump.

He threw more assists to Ole Miss than to us. He wasn’t focused all night. I said in my prediction we better be ready because they Ole Miss, got embarrassed at Tennessee. I have watched three of their early games, they have a great pg who is lightning in a bottle, nails threes and makes steals, wings galore and the the big center who blocked almost all our inside shots. This was not a lucky night for them. They are for real with a very good, tough coach. We weren’t ready and we got slaughtered.

Football team ended the season in 10th in overall record and basketball team is currently in 10th. Unfortunately our major sports programs have become second tier programs in the SEC. Thank goodness Gators are major players in most of the other sports they compete in.

Coach Beard looks like a grizzled experienced basketball court, our coach looks like the kid no one wants to pickup on the outdoor courts. The refs don’t take him serious. The good court side coaches get involved in how the game is played (early)and makes moves to counter the other team and refs, not waiting till the game is out of reach. This is the same deer in the headlight look that Mike White had. Texas A & M, Auburn both look tough as nails. Tennessee at home will be brutal, South Carolina in Columbia, Georgia at Athens very good, LSU coming around,Arkansas with their pro coach will probably put on a clinic for Todd. Alabama will be tough, Miss St. with their slow down beat down approach that we don’t understand and know how to play, not looking good for us. we are looking out of the picture for a NCAA berth. If we keep playing the way it’s going the NIT might not want us. CTG is his players going to listen to him?. I don’t have good feelings about this season, I am truly embarrassed we can’t sign coaches who at least make us competitive. UF should give up the SEC and try to join the Ivy League, where no one’s cares if you. Win or lose, just your GPA.
