(SB) OGT: Bubly Invitational February 13-16 @KSP

I saw we play BC and Duke twice. Duke should be the toughest test to date.

 

Yep - BC played at a tournament at Florida Gulf Coast last weekend. They also beat FGCU 2-1, Long Island 2-0 and Indiana State 8-2. They only hit .252 last weekend with 1 HR, 8 walks and 18 strikeouts. Team ERA is 2.12 and their main pitcher, Kelly Colleran, threw 17.2 innings in those 5 games with a 1.58 ERA. They're an ACC team, but more of a middle of the pack team, wheras Duke is coming off their first World Series ever, with much of their team back. They will be the first real test for the Gators.

Anyone think weather will affect any of the games this weekend? It looks the worst on Sunday, which will be our second game against Duke. Tennis already moved up their game a day, but nothing said from baseball/softball yet.

 

She is more likely to start against Providence. They are 0 & 4 and have been outscored 27 - 6.

 

For those of us without an X account, please post any tweats about whether the game is cancelled/delayed. It's a monsoon right now.

 

They just announced the game is delayed. No word of the estimated start time.

That's first I heard -- thanks! Please post again if you hear anything new. On the one hand, it's a little brighter. OTOH, there's no reason to force this game in since the visiting team is already planning on staying overnight.

 

According to my radar forecast app the rains stop at 4 PM and Gainesville is clear for the next 4 hours. Fingers crossed.

 

Maybe so, but I gotsta have my Gator softball fix tonight!!

BC's pitcher tonight, Abby Dunning, was pre-season ranked as the #30 pitcher in D1 softball. She's a senior who pitched a complete game win over Florida Gulf Coast, giving up 5 hits, 4 walks, 3 K's and no earned runs, getting the win 2-1.

 

Only game on TV this weekend is tomorrow night's game with Duke. SEC+.
