I'll be there in spirt. Can't wait for hoops season to begin, to see the new players, and to continue the Gotham Style Pick 'em! (stay tuned)
From the official website: Free popcorn will be distributed to the first 500 UF students and team photo cards will be available for the first 1,000 fans in attendance. Inside Gate 1, fans will have chance to enjoy the interactive 360 video booth courtesy of American Campus Communities and take photos with the 2006 & 2007 National Championship trophies. UF students will also be able to shoot a free throw on Billy Donovan Court at the conclusion of the event. One lucky fan will even win a pair of Florida Men's Basketball season tickets.
So will we bring in SEC officials and pay them a hundred grand each to call the game like we did for the football O&B game? I mean, I'm assuming that's how it's done for, you know, good Will. Wink wink.
It should be. I'd much rather see a competitive scrimmage than a dang dunk contest. Needs to be a fun even for the students first, though. That said, it'd be really cool to see the players compete against the coaches in a game of HORSE.
Golden is young enough to reinstiute the 3-3 challange that Donovan had. Of course BD and his staff were seeded into the finals, but still a good thing. BTW I think it was because of that 3-3 challenge that John Pelphrey started playing noon time pick-up with us to keep his game sharp. I saw him just shooting around at the Florida gym when I had downs and asked if he wanted to play 5-5 full court. I told him "I know you, but you don't know me". After that he played with us for years. It was fun playing with him. I once asked him if Coach D would want to join our game and he said that he probably would love to, but won't.
November 1 is my youngest son's birthday. We are trying to see if we can have an early dinner and then all go to the scrimmage. He is a Gator b-ball fan.
Reeves, Fudge, Kugel with slams for blue. Bonham and Richard with 3s for orange. Blue is 2nd team. 8-6 Blue.
