You’re the one who can’t stop talking about guns and shooting people. Why can’t you just leave people like me alone ?

I believe that guns are real and that you have one or more of them in your home.

Slavery certainly came under his gaze as time went on, but I agree his first principle was union. And actually King George doesn’t strike me as a villain at this point. It seems entirely reasonable to me that he would fight to keep his colonies. Perhaps he should have better listened to them in the events that led up to the revolution, but there was already a British parliament at the time, so those actions may not even really have been his.

But regarding today’s potential civil war, I think @channingcrowderhungry struck the fatal blow: the real division today isnt one state vs another. It’s cities vs rural areas. And how might one divide that up?

The early Americans were the welfare queens of the British Empire.

And I’m just envisioning the Lord’s work of eviscerating the going Empire. Look at what happened to the old Soviet Union. It’s half its former glory. But Moscow and St. Petersburg are still teeming with liberals.

Perhaps so, but whose opinion of the state of their lives is the more relevant, theirs or ours? Even Burke thought the crown was overstepping its bounds with the colonies:

“Leave the Americans as they anciently stood and these distinctions, born of our unhappy contest, will die along with it. They and we, and their and our ancestors, have been happy under that system. Let the memory of all actions in contradiction of that good old mode, on both sides, be extinguished forever . . . Do not burden them by taxes; you were not used to do so from the beginning. Let this be your reason for not taxing. These are the arguments of states and kingdoms. Leave the rest to the schools; for only there may they be discussed with safety. But, if intemperately, unwisely, fatally, you sophisticate and poison the very source of government, by urging subtle deductions, and consequences odious to those you govern, from the unlimited and illimitable nature of supreme sovereignty, you will teach them by these means to call that sovereignty itself in question. When you drive him hard, the boar will surely turn upon the hunters. If that sovereignty and their freedom cannot be reconciled, which will they take? They will cast your sovereignty into your face. Nobody will be argued into slavery.”

The irony here is that our Civil War wasn’t a civil war but our Revolutionary War was. The untold story of the war is the faction that wanted to overthrow England and the faction that didn’t.

I'm not sure how I'd have guns in my home when I don't believe guns are real

You can always leave. Nobody is stopping you from emigrating. What you mean is that you want to force other people to engage in your attempt to leave the US to make it more convenient for you.

I'm not. Enjoy your trip. But you don't get to force everybody else to leave the country because you don't want to live in the US.

There are plenty of those on the left who call for all kinds of physical retribution against those who they feel have slighted them.
They may not be calling for a civil war in the strictest sense.

I’m sure that a few idiots on the far right do dream for it I think most who talk about it don’t want it but some have concerns about it happening.
It’s not like our Government has never rounded up its citizens that they felt were a “threat”.

No, the only time that a number of people tried to force everybody who lived with them to leave the country, they weren't allowed to do so. They could have all gone to another location in the world if they wanted to do so, same as you could do now. Nobody is keeping you here by violence. So when can we expect you to head out? Or is it more that you just want to fantasize about being able to force people to do what you like?

“weren’t allowed to do so” sounds like forcing to me.

Weren't allowed to force other people to leave the country. Such as their slaves. Sure, they weren't allowed to force other people to leave the country against their will. Which is what you appear to want to do to avoid some degree of inconvenience.

So are you planning on leaving since you so dislike living in the United States? Or just trying to force other people to do it?

Lincoln on the phone to you. Something about deporting blacks before the South had an opportunity to do it.

    4. California passes slate of LGBTQ protections Newsome vetoed the most egregious part of the bill which still has majority of California Dems in favor of CPS using a "non-affirming parent" (love the language) as a pejorative in child dispute cases.

Your dismissive comment doesn't stand up to the facts above. Live and let live sounds great - until someone decides they are entitled to have what someone else owns or destroy what someone else has built.

I get it: Left and Right differ on what's important to protect. Left wants ability to access abortion easily and without restriction and Right wants ability to walk the streets safely. Yep, we're monsters.
