I find it hard to believe student athletes talk that way in public, to the public. That might be more revealing than anything, that a player on our team cannot handle himself better. Hope he's an outlier.
I have a real tough time with anyone calling a black player “ghetto”. Bad look for Gator fans. You wanna say “classless” or whatever/ great. But we have ZERO clue where that kid is from or what his family life was like and how a term like that - which carry’s a ton of weight - affects him or even applies to him. It’s 2024 not 1954… we need to act like it fans. (Feel free to ‘sensitive PC snowflake “ me all you want… I just hate seeing black players called ghetto or thugs that haven’t done anything to warrant it. That being said- he sounds like a bitter dude and I’m glad he’s gone
Also, it opens the opportunity to bring in a good portal transfer that has the skills the Gators need.
We lost a mediocre at best player? I’m devastated. He was such a key element in all the success we had last year and a classy team player as well. Oh well, I guess we will just have to find a way to go on without him.
For clarification... I didn't call Nunery Ghetto, I said that the post/X post etc, sounded too ghetto to be one of our players, and subsequently called it FAKE. If that didn't come through clearly, let this be the clarification. If that wasn't clear, let it be known now. Basically, I couldn't imagine anyone on our team making a statement like that, and think the whole note was complete bullshit! Furthermore, I can't imagine anyone that actually got into UF would articulate their feelings in writing like that. I don't have prejudice towards our players or anyone else for that matter. Read the thousands of posts I've made- I'm a positive human being. I refuse to waste any more time clarifying any further beyond this note. Primary purpose of my post was to call out the post as BS and feel bad that the kid is leaving. Even the ones that leave are Gators and contributors! Go Gators.
maybe I'm getting forgetful in my senior years, but as I recall, that article was written by Gentry, not Nick, but I think I was blasted on that one too. I think I've toned down my critiques since then, but I have noticed that Gentry's articles seem to be more "reporting" than flowerey. RE: Nick's article, I think he was being flowery without backing anything up with substance, hence my "lazy" comment. Did you remember that or are you keeping a "file" on me?
why not??? I grew up in Immokalee (a while ago) and that's how many talked back then and I'm sure it's worse now
One is on the mend the other has never put on cleats at UF. So, I say it certainly hurts the depth going into the fall. Frosh LB’s, even 5 star LBs, would have tough time getting on the field for the opener against Miami.
I saw that another site referred to his emotional rant. So, maybe that is what he did say? I'm kind of embarrassed for him. Who in God's name would publically write something like that and think that is good for his continued football career? I've left VM's in the past I wish I could have taken back. But, I suppose in an emotional state one will do pretty nutzo stuff. He's moving on. We have some great options and some stellar players with character. Perhaps this is the best for both parties. The defense is ramping up in a nice way! Go Gators
You can’t fix stupid. I’m sure he thought it sounded good when he wrote it. Maybe he still likes what he said. I usually sober up and think wtf did I do.
He’s leaving and he’s mad that Coach Ham wanted him to play hurt or something. Then blamed the DC for him giving up the 4-16 against Mizzou
