I think there was far more good than bad when we start peeling back the layers of coach White's time at UF, but he is gone now so let's be critical and appreciative at the same time. Most coaches are not all good or bad, but a mixture of both.

    The bad:
I am still pissed off that he didn't give his little brother an ass whipping for calling out our Athletic Director on social media while he was the AD at Central Florida. Really and truthfully that is when I knew MW didn't have the stones to make us into a winner.

So now MW is at Georgia and his little bro is at Tennessee. I think I can find a healthy dislike for the whole family now. LOL

    The good:
I will miss his inbound plays from the baseline when Nembhard was here. Those were some things of beauty!

Good: Worked his ass of to succeed the “right way”. He and his kids represented the program admirably… and through an incredibly difficult event.

Bad: For reasons I can’t explain, he was never able to fully assemble the type of team or style he wanted.

Good: He ran a clean program.

Bad: He just doesn't know how to teach the game of basketball. Hey, there are good teachers and bad teachers in every aspect of life. He was a very poor teacher, IMO.

    Good: coach

    Bad: luck

I think it’s better for both parties. For whatever reason, MW had extremely bad luck here. I would say I wish him the best at his next stop, but since it’s UGA. Nope, ain’t happening. Hope he fails miserably at UGA and then wins a natty at his next stop.

Good: He represented the university well and ran a clean program.

Bad: He just didn't win enough games or show consistent improvement.

This is how I feel too..
Good: Great guy, humble, honest, good representing UF, never heard him bad mouthing people, or embarrassing us or getting us in trouble..thought he did a decent job (I know he needs to motivate his guys-however he didn't miss FT or take bad shots or commit bonehead fouls (like A and M the first time)
Bad: Luck-having lost Key and others to injuries..did not win consistently...up and down -could not get the most out of his players..
Like I said-had he gone outside the SEC or another SEC school like Miss State or Ole Miss-I would pull for him-while I like him-I can't stand uga...

Can't really improve on @tilly's answer.

Good: Great integrity and character especially facing misfortune; stepped-up and followed a legend.
Bad: Lack of having a complete roster limited his disciplinary approach and showed as inconsistent results on the floor; and an inability to change/adapt showed as worse-than-expected results.

He's a great guy but he's no longer a great Florida guy and I agree with others that I can't ever pull for a LegHumper (or UcheaT) coach or team in anything.

Good: players played with poise like under Donovan. Not always an easy task. Wasn’t a jerk to fans and the press.

Bad: coaching basketball fundamentals with a boring “style” of offense. Stunk it up at home way too many times.

Several have done a good job addressing the quality character of MW, so I'll go more specific to hoops outcomes:

Good - Coached quality defense w/o fouling. I don't know the numbers, but we have to be among the lowest fouling teams in the conference.

Bad - Losing key games when playing from ahead. It all started with the Duke game a few years ago and from that point, it seemed that a certain "foot on the gas" element was missing.

    Good: He had great baseline out of bounds plays;

Bad: Tended to take his foot off of the pedal too early.

    I like what @gatordavisl said. I'll add

Good - Even though we had a lot of transfers, it seems that the players genuinely love Coach White and play hard for him.

Bad - Similar to @gatordavisl's comment, I think Coach White played not to lose instead of playing to win on many occasions. Not only did it reduce our chances of winning, the mentality carried over into the players. Often offensively, our guys seemed to play afraid of messing up instead of playing freely. It was less evident this year than previous ones though, IMO.

Great guy. I wish him well at his next job AFTER uga.

Good: Great representative of the university.

Bad: Couldn’t put a balanced roster together with a cohesive identity, year in and out.

Duke was the first game and first year that had me feeling like something was off. That should have been a win and overall was indicative of what was to come. Flashes of potential followed by wild inconsistencies.

On the misfortune bad luck front. It’s amazing how every coach that doesn’t work out has “bad luck” (Zook, Muschamp etc.), and yet they still don’t ever succeed wherever they land. Luck is an excuse for no margin of error.

but to the question, good man who ran a clean program, limited ability to adapt either in game or program level.

    Good: Ran program with integrity
Bad: Player/Team development, team's performance digressed during season and seasons, players did not seem to play smart
