Of course we all want that, but I’d also rather him be someone that we all admire

I read somewhere that McClain was a receiver for a good portion of his high school years. So, is the hedge to bring him in as a receiver instead of Badger who we really don't know what his physical status is? At this point, McClain physically is a little too light for DB if he is at 165 lbs as was reported in one of the responses. However, we could use his athleticism in the receiver position until he gains some strength and weight.

Wanne, I generally agree with you, but if all you want on the football team is a bunch of religiously devout saints then get used to losing.

And, just speaking for myself, why would I "admire" a 19 year old just because he plays football or some other sport? In all but the rarest of situations, that is not "admiration" worthy. This, to me, is what is so strange about college athletics: grown adults personally invested in and attached to teenagers. It suggests something off about the adults, not the players.

Do you "admire" your hardworking local grocery store manager, accountant, engineer, school principal, plumber, post office worker, etc.? Hell no.

Cormani may not have had much parental support, and I could see why a kid with coaches in his ear constantly in that family environment might be confused. I can attest to the fact that my three--all of whom are very successful now- did some world class stupid S-- growing up. As did all of my friend's kids. Glad to hear your kids are such paragons of virtue. That's very unusual.

Cormani may prove to be a total head case, in which case we run him off. Or maybe he's grown up a bit and learned a lesson and turns out to be a great player. I see zero downside in giving him a chance.

I think you made Wanne say more than he intended, because I didn't interpret his comment the way you did at all!
I think coach Napier is giving McClain a chance, which is admirable. Hopefully, wherever he lands, he will understand he has something to prove. Otherwise, chance number three may really suck for him!!!

Yes, I admire the grocery store manager for the exact same reasons I would admire a football player.

I think I’d rather not have a national championship if the team had to be led by Jameis Winston.

There’s a slight difference between “admire” and “respect”. I put the grocery store manager and the football player in the “respect” category. Tim Tebow and Danny Wuerffel? — “admire”.
There are countless other examples of course

The hype and anticipation is great. If he comes, awesome. I trust if he comes it's with the expectation that he earns time and believe our NIL deal will not be one that causes other players in the locker room to feel CM got something they did not without earning it.

Not directed at me I know, but YES I have a problem w Dante Fowler doing that.
And if I recall, his recruiter at UF ended up going to FSU and doing the same crap again- this time to us.
Kids are going to do stupid crap. I don't like it but I'm quick to forgive because they are young.

But the adults who enable that, and encourage that. Like our assistant who went to fsu...
Show them the door. I don't want them a part of the UF coaching staff.

I get the second chance thing... And that's fine if Napier decides to give this kids a second chance, but college football is a business and you have to make the right business decision for your entire team. I'm not saying not to let him walk-on nor am I saying I'm for it... mine is a totally neutral statement pointing out the business and effects aspect of adding him.

The one thing that makes his recruitment different is that HE already has a college football resume. Does his college playing skills at Colorado speak to our coaches as that of top tier DB? Or... is he as good as his previously perceived talent indicated (5* star recruit) before he even played college football... like when he was just a high school recruit?

He has a college football resume already... is that resume good enough to take him? Or is he just a walk-on experiment at best right now?
