I actually made the mistake of engaging a couple of people on Facebook who were claiming Biden (actually, they're blaming it all on Harris now) took huge amounts from FEMA to give to illegal immigrants. But since there's no record of it, they claim it's been done secretly. I asked where they heard this, was it postings on social media. But no answer.
I should have realized. It's Trump simply making up crap again. He says they stole 'billions' for immigrants ... and they believe him. Absolutely remarkable.

 

At first blush it's almost funny that they bought into the lies so completely, but when one gives it a bit more thought, it becomes scary. These are people that vote, that we trust with our children, that handle our financial transactions, that pilot our airplanes, etc. If their judgment is that flawed on something so easy to verify or dispel, how do we trust them with all these other things that directly affect us?

Yeah. Find any FB post wishing that everyone stay safe from Milton and one of the first replies will be from a chowderhead MAGAt saying, "Yeah, because you know Biden and Harris won't be providing any aid like now in NC."

FEMA trains for disasters like hurricanes. And a big part of that training is being central command to help coordinate efforts over a large region that may encompass multiple states. There is no better bureaucracy to handle the job.

Johnson's excuse not to call a special session is we don't know the extent and cost estimates of the damage yet. But with Milton bearing down on Florida, the costs of both storms will exceed what's in the budget. Isn't it better to be prepared now with the money?

You guys act like we have to dig between the sofa cushions on the daily. Look at education? Duhsantis loves taking my tax dollars and giving it to the wealthy who can well afford their child's private school, so they can have a discount. Meanwhile we need to build more schools and pay teachers a living wage. SMDH. What mandates are you talking about? The ones dems want to impose or the ones the repubs want to impose? You guys love you some grandstanding. The responsible thing to have said would be to reinforce the support of FEMA and deny the rumors as the north carolina Republicans have done. He just loves the ole Yosemite Sam caricature though. And I voted for him but hate his political pandering although that is what politics has become now I guess as long as people lap it up on both sides.

 

Let's be accurate about this "both sides" stuff.

Nobody has ever lied like the felon Trump, including telling repeated outright lies about and during a national disaster. Just like he lied during covid.
