No doubt a little luck can help, but the Gators went to 7 Elite Eights in the Donovan era. The teams were good enough to win it all in 2011, 2012 and 2014, but didn’t. Brewer made a phenomenal play against Georgetown in 2006. You can call that luck if you want, but luck cuts both ways. We don’t get lucky anymore.

Do you think we prepared for the year with only one defensive strategy? When I was in high school, we played like five different defenses depending on what the opponent was doing. The adjustment should have been IN GAME in the Oklahoma game with maybe one timeout. There should be no "revamp", just the coach saying "ok, let's switch to xyz from abc." Are our players not capable of playing multiple defenses in a single game?

Some flaws in your argument here.
    1. Pippen scored 29pts and had 7 assists, hardly a matter of losing the game for Vandy.
    2. You repeat 18-13, while also acknowledging that it's not our record.
    3. We haven't yet lost 12 games, let alone 13. Assume a 12th loss if you will, but I won't.
    4. Lotta good teams win 15-16 of their tough games. See Alabama (KP 22), OSU (KP 24), VT (KP 27), MI (KP 33), & OK (KP 41)
    5. The book is yet to be written on Mike White at UF. It's erroneous to assume he's inferior to Kruger & Sloan at this point.

Of course you don't play only one defense unless you are a Bobby Knight coached team. The problem is that it was early in the season and we had a lot of starters that were Seniors, but also first year UF players. Defense requires communication and these players were just getting used to each other. I am guessing that most of the practice reps were using the one style and fewer reps with other D's.

As for switching defenses you don't need a time out. The coach can signal it in. We switched defenses a lot in the last part of the Vandy game without calling a TO.

Of course I remember. I was there.

And at our ages it was long enough ago to remember. LOL.

Agree. That's why I said "maybe" just in case communication is not working.

I hope Mike White stays right here. He's an excellent coach and gets the most out of his players.Barring injuries to key players (Johnson, Castleton, Jitoboh) and others we probably would have won several more games.

Both of LSUs starting guards were out when they beat us on our home court. We also had our entire lineup available against Texas Southern.

I'm rooting for CMW - AND I would agree with you if you modified your post to say he gets "the most" ..........effort..........out of his players. Hustle, determination, don't quit but.................even some of the most prominent members of this board would take issue with "He's an excellent coach" ............I draw the line with that. Good, ...perhaps.... good gets you to 19-13.

"Excellent" requires 25 "W"'s IMO in a 31 game regular season.

Coach Mike White and his "camp." Not sure what "camp" is doing in quotes and what that signifies. How do you put pressure on a coach you don't like? Start rumors that you heard he is leaving, and taking his "camp" with him. Someone like minded is sure to jump in and they heard the rumor too. Then you have seven pages of the same old, same old.

Kerp in mind that Rick Barnes regular season and tournament record is similar to CMW and Texas was none for the better after firing their coach. He seems to have done better the last three or four years after decades of coaching.

Yes, there's no such thing as one defensive strategy. Anyone who says that has never played a game of real organized basketball. Defensive philosophies? Maybe, but a strategy in a dynamic sport like basketball has to also be dynamic, on defense and on offense.

So LSU only had what 4-5 players that were paid to go there?

Boeheim pretty much had Syracuse play a 2-3 zone for approximately 100 years.
