"Make America Great Again" ring a bell? That is going forward, right. Are we talking like the 1920s when women could not vote or just "Separate but Equal" again? And, by the way, it was right wingers who invaded our capital and tried to overturn our government while carrying rebel battle flags. I've not seen that crap from the left (though they certainly have their idiots who committed violence, and should all be arrested, and thereby undermined legitimate protests against police brutality).

So, no, the ONLY reason to bring it up is NOT to divide the country. It is to have this country live up to its commitment as a land of equal opportunity. If you do not like the facts, address them. DENIAL is not addressing them.

But worse is calling raising these institutional, factually undeniable inequalities "divisive." Justice is never divisive, but even if it were, address it with facts, not snowflake whining.

What is both divisive and racist is pretending racism does not exist, threatening to fire and cancel people who raise these issues as "woke", and running political campaigns for which a portion of the base are racists and calling them "good people" - after a rally where one of those good people killed a woman.

But I guess the past only matters to celebrate folks who dress up in confederate uniforms of traitors carrying a shameful battle flag indicating support of slavery? That is "heritage, not hate", right?

 

I may be crazy but I’m not too dumb to read and post facts, so that I have to resort to posting memes as a substitute for conversing. African-Americans with ancestry dating prior to the Civil War should probably thank the plantation owners for providing free room and board to their ancestors in in fair exchange for the African immigrants voluntarily providing labor on their plantations. Similarly they probably be grateful for the free passage from Africa to the New World.
