I take it you like Desantis. What specifically about him do you like? It’s a serious question, not a gotcha question.

Since they all get their talking points from the same place and don't read the threads where it's already discussed, I believe the question you're responding to is moreso that governor and US Senator are statewide races irrespective of districts, so why would gerrymandering have any impact.

The obvious answer is that when districts are drawn so painstakingly specific to virtually guarantee one party cannot win in the district:

    1) it can have a demotivating effect on the voters for the minority party
    2) as you alluded to, it allows the party in power to consolidate that power through shady tactics such as closing voting locations closer to minority voting clusters within the district, etc.

I know, that’s why I said likely. It’s looking more unlikely now, but still a huge midterm win for Dems that all the idiot media and the QOP-stacked polls got dead wrong.

Re-read my post, I didn’t specify senator/governor/mayors. It was a pretty broadly targeted commentary about Florida, which has been gerrymandered to skew its representation in the House. It’s all part of the big rig in Florida.

    Really? What claim was that?

I don’t live there anymore. You couldn’t pay me enough to live in the Fascist State of DeathSantistan. And all decent human beings are upset that an abhorrent creep like him is in charge of a whole state. It’s not just Democrats (which I am not). It’s just a fact that almost no decent human beings vote Republican anymore, so that skews the party makeup of the group quite a bit.

And any UF alumn, which I am, who isn’t pissed red in the face at the way RegeneRon has tried to turn our beloved university into something out of the Soviet Union, needs to send their diploma back, because they didn’t learn anything.

I would make a joke about Lauren Boebert going down, but I don’t make fun of sex workers.

Too funny. You sure supported her on this message board. You 'really like her'. Just own it instead of being a weasel about it.

It isn’t a red wave. But they only need control. And they will get that in the House because of the overreach in New York and the gerrymandering in Florida. In New York, the courts stopped it before the election. In Florida, the courts reversed the injunction to ensure that the vote would be on this map— preserving the status quo.
