I didn’t fight many, but that one as a rookie firefighter certainly had an intense pucker factor. Honestly I never had much trepidation at a fire scene but that incident did give me pause about my career choice. By the way where did you work and what time frame. I did almost 25 at Tampa and then a stint as “The State Man” at The Florida State Fire College.
Fortunately haven't had to fight a true basement fire yet but there are surprisingly several houses in volusia that have them. Been in quite a few fires that had basements.
When we moved to MD in ‘86 and were house hunting (I was 15) the first thing I did in every house was run down to the basement. I was so amazed.
They cost extra, if anything the context shouldn't be an insult, instead a compliment of one's wealth. I miss my basement, slab sucks.
The fanbase's attitude toward Billy and his "process" took a huge hit on Saturday, with good reason. BN richly deserved the tidal wave of negative feedback - whether he wants to hear it or not. Today's butt hurt little presser could be the coup degras for many, basement dwellers or not. Frankly, he increasingly appears to be in over his head pretty much across the board.
Our three previous coaches plus Zook all got testy with the fanbase right before things unraveled. Saturday was PNR for Napier. He knows it.
Like I said in another thread, the next 4 games. Anything less than 4-0 and it’s courtains for Napier and Stricklin at UF.
That probably needs to happen first. This was such a bad hire with such an unfavorable contract to the university that he needs to be held accountable … if for no other reason than to let Napier know his days of feeling safe “no matter what” are over, and if he has a hidden gear, now is the time to show it.
So he had a phrase that wasn’t great for the intended situation but he was convinced was going to work, so he used it anyway without any attempt to tweak or optimize it for the situation and now he’s getting ridiculed? Sums up his tenure at UF.
